A good example are those artworks by Portuguese-French urban artist Nuno de Matos aka Matox! This evolution can be seen in the rich layering of acrylic, spray paint, and marker used to create these complex and fluid designs found in each unique modern art canvas. ([fokal.com](http://fokal.com/f-1085/abstract-calligraphy-amp-urban-graffiti)) Matox studied at the University of Toulouse and developed an expressive, line-based abstract style since the 80s. Although his artworks remind me of those by [Brooklyn-based urban artist **José Parlá**](/jose-parla-urban-calligaphy/), I like the complexity of the different layers of calligraphy-inspired lines.
