Since he’s living in Berlin, Danish artist Jakob Tolstrup further develops his technique steadily and creates one or other new artwork… Born in 1983 in Denmark, Jakob started to draw in his childhood and hasn’t quit ever since. In the mid 90′s he got introduced to graffiti which had a big impact on his life and work. As I told you, the first solo-show by graffiti-legend Mode2 in Berlin opened its doors last Friday! Entitled Offerings the show presents a new series of canvas paintings, dedicated to the female body… Mode2 creates an atmosphere in which the viewer is being stimulated to think about their own sexuality and confront their own universes of associative conditioning. Although famous graffiti-legend Mode2 already stayed in Berlin for a long time (a painted several impressing murals, e.g. at Schau Fenster Gallery and Jacki Terrasse), he still didn’t had a solo-exhibition in town - until now! Lucas Carrieri Gallery is going to exhibit a new series of paintings by Mode2 this Friday! Simply entitled Offerings, Mode2 presents large-scale paintings of the female body, drawn from a specific perspective… This perspectival point of view suggests that the female is significantly larger than the canvas, making her appear like a goddess. End of last month, The Alex Diamond Mining Company exhibition opened at Vicious Gallery in Hamburg, presenting new artworks, like woodcut prints and installations, by Alex Diamond! As some of you already know, London’s famous Lazarides Gallery recently started showing works by well-known stencil artist Boxi! Utilising both the streets and gallery walls as his canvas, the artist is a master of the stencil turning away from their traditional anarchist use to challenge the norm through boldly heightened realistic figures. With fear and its manipulation as the underlying theme, his art channels a deeply disturbing voyeuristic experience for the viewer playing with spatial perception of the surrouding environment.
