Art Photography: Capturing Urban Creativity

Yesterday, I visited the Pisa73 and Czarnobyl stencil art exhibition in Berlin-Kreuzberg. Although the shown artworks were really nice, they unfortunately were the same I already know from the “Aerosol Fumes” stencil art group exhibition… Nevertheless I took some shots, because Pisa73 and Czarnobyl are two of the most famous Berlin-based stencil artist and their artworks are well-known in Europe and overseas. Most notably is the great location. It’s called the “Nest” and it’s above a little nice café. It’s the same interesting location were the Streetfiles urban art photo show took place in November 2009. ...

Yesterday I visited the opening of the 44flavours art show at the 72h Gallery in Berlin. It was a good exhibition in a nice show-room, but although there were some really interesting repainted silk-screen prints, I somehow missed a certain touch… In addition, I think that the 44flavour guys should have had a bit more time to give their artworks the lacking something! Nevertheless the 72h concept seems to bear fruits - The exhibition was well-frequented and there were artworks sold already at the beginning. ...

As I told you one week ago, Belgian graffiti artists Roa started his exhibition in Paris! For those who could not be in Paris until February 28th, have been published some nice photos of Roa’s phantastic animal graffiti by my friend Vito! Each of the spray-painted artworks, which are popular worldwide, seems to be as detailed as possible. Roa come to his painting in different ways, either as abandoned places, town, or gallery, and develops more and more the effects of anamorphosis, also in a goal context. After distinguished journeys in the streets of New York, London, Berlin and Warsaw in 2009, Roa now takes possession of Paris. (press release) ...

Berlin is the world capital of stencil art - You don’t think so? Then take a look at the extravagant “Aerosol Fumes” stencil art exhibition! Since two days, Berlin’s five most well-known stencil artists – Bohomaz, Czarnobyl, Emess, Evol and Pisa73 – exhibit together in the Neurotitan Gallery. Berlin-based urban artist Manuel Osterholt aka Superblast is going to have a new exhibition in Berlin this month! Since 1989, Superblast discovered the world of graffiti, which made him detect his own, Hip Hop, Punk Rock and skateboarding influenced style. As a graphic designer he works with a lot of big brands like Sony Playstation, Ecko and Montana. His book Neo Utopia, which is part of some of our urban photo contest prize packages, presents his whole career, starting with style-writing in Heidelberg to street art influenced graphic design and painting in Berlin. ...
