Abstract Art | In London, two very talented and well-known abstract artists are just exhibiting their collaborate artworks: Remi/Rough & Steve More! The show named “A”, which is not just the first letter of the alphabet but stands for abstract, abrasive, alternative, avant-garde and anti-popular, shows brilliant urban-inspired, rough artworks. A must for fans of abstract spray-paintings and unusual views… The artworks by Remi/Rough and Steve More combine thin lines and extra-bold ones, straight and clean edges as well as filthy backgrounds. Customized Skateboards | Last weekend, the Berlin Art Projects Gallery opened its doors for the skateboard art show “The Helping Hounds Of Hell”, which presented a huge count of different skateboard decks, customized by about 40 artists from all over the globe! The Helping Hounds Of Hell is a charitable art project launched by the Berlin based design studio Groupe Dejour to benefit the Fair Play foundation. The hand painted, one of a kind boards will be sold at two exhibitions in Berlin and Hamburg. International artists, street artists and graphic designers will create unique boards for the show including Boris Hoppek, Jim Avignon, Jon Burgerman and Casey McKee. (houndsofhell.de) ...
Art Installation | One of my favorite art galleries in Berlin will present a weekend of Parisian live art installations next week: Skalitzers presents ‘Earthbound Escape’, in association with DAS Weekend - a live art installation by Parisian artists Babou and Tanc, exploring the visual and emotional boundaries between art, music and life. (Skalitzers) Both arists have already been part of the “Kiss the City” exhibition last year, in which they presented their beautiful interpretations of tags. Sticky Street Art | One of the first medium which was used to put art on the streets have been stickers. They are cheap, easy and effective and for that reason also more and more well used by advert companies. Nevertheless, stickers are still part of street art which is the reason why the next bigger thing in Berlin is the sticker exhibition Stickcore! Stickcore will present stickers by artists from all over the world ans calls you to “discover this medium as a part of street and urban art and get fascinated by its wonderful diversity of colour, form, elements and expression.” Also it is still possible to submit your own sticker to be part of the show… ...
A lot of reknown urban artist, like Herakut, El Mac, Augustine Kofie and Remi/Rough already painted live in Jaybo’s Project Room in Berlin. Now, the master himself invited to watch him paint at the Soto Berlin shop. He painted simultaneously three artworks in front of an audience. Unfortunately I missed this event, so I have no new “Urban Artist in Action” shots for you… Nevertheless, Jaybo’s live painting was recorded and for that reason there is this really nice short video online. Graffiti Art Exhibition | The master of flying colors, Morten Andersen will open his first solo-show in Berlin in a few days! No, he’s not a former National Football League kicker, but a high skilled graffiti fine artist from Denmark. He started tagging back in 1989. Since then, his style was more and more influenced by abstract forms, hand styled line work, patterns and fantastic colors… “Since he was a kid - Mortens fascination in colours, forms and shapes and their influence on human feelings lead him to draw and paint. After years of beeing a graffiti artist, he began to work more and more on canvas. With his unseen unique style, Morten is one of these rarely seen artist who passed the evolutionary step from Graffiti to fine art with flying colours. Fine Art Show | Since last Thursday, brilliant and very colorful artworks by artist and former biochemist Kelsey Brookes from San Diego can be seen at Circleculture Gallery in Berlin. Brookes, who is well-known for his raw and energized style presents his latest “Caped Creatures” works, showing half human, half animal creatures mixed with letters, abstract explosions and neon colors… The creatures become a framework from which the figures anatomy is experimented with. Parts of these chimeras are missing, exaggerated or abstracted beyond functional reality in an effort to relate to the viewer their intense character or predicaments. The loosening of the figure as well as the strong and unique interplay with abstract forms and text, increases the sense of awe and wonder found in Brookes’ signature style. Berlin’s urban art scene is about to get a vibrant new addition! After recent setbacks, like the disappointing closure of ATM Gallery, there’s finally some uplifting news for street art enthusiasts. At the end of this month, the French art association ARTAQ will host the inaugural Urban Arts Award Festival in Berlin, celebrating groundbreaking talent from around the globe. This prestigious event recognizes 19 exceptional artists chosen from over 320 submissions worldwide, with 4 receiving Special Jury Awards. Their work will be showcased in a traveling exhibition across five major European cities—Angers, Paris, Berlin, Brussels, and Lyon.
