Backjumps #4 - Photos
As I told you yesterday, the next version of legendary urban art exhibition project “Backjumps”, started in Berlin.
Backjumps #4 presents different unusual artworks and projects by the seven Berlin-based urban artists Pigenius Cave, Brad Downey, RZM (Ritsche Koch/Zasd/Christian Marien), Matthias Wermke and Mischa Leinkauf. The exhibition shows, in which ways it is possible to explore and use the urban landscape.
Pigenius Cave explores with a homemade “Tricycle” the canals and underground access ways of the city. Brad Downey presents artworks, which demonstrate his sculptural as well as his performative dealing with the city. RZM deals with the world of sound, architecture and texture of Berlin locations. And Matthias Wermke and Misha Leinkauf show a video installation, in which they move through the underground and suburban rail network of Berlin.

Nomad - Classical Painting & Street Art
Yesterday, one of Berlin’s most famous urban artists Nomad opened his recent exhibition “Rainbowcoloured Tears of a Clown” at the Circleculture Gallery.
“Circleculture Gallery is pleased to announce its first solo exhibition featuring the artist Nomad. As an original street artist, he developed his expressional variants conceptually and technically through interactive projects in interior and exterior spaces: combining writing and street art with poetry and classical painting.
In this context, we become acquainted with Nomad’s street art in the gallery as part of a holistic work of art. The works shown move between humour, satire and human drama. At the centre is the clown or fool, who mirrors the ambiguity of human existence.” (press release)

StreetFest in London - Flashback
Somehow I missed the live art event, which took place in London several days ago. But of course I will still write something about it…
“Live art” or “performance art” is where an artist creates a piece of art in front of audience. This experience gives the viewers some insight into the mind of an artist at work, which is not only exciting but thought provoking. StreetFest is the first and only live art street festival in UK.

Superblast - The Shadow of the Future

Dan Witz - Dark Doings
Next month, urban intervention artist Dan Witz will have his new solo-exhibition, called Dark Doings, at the Carmichael Gallery of Contemporary Art.
The artworks which will be presented are small window-imitations, which show in a very realistic way people, who are imprisoned. Dan placed these mixed media installations on doors all over New York City in the last weeks. If you pass by one of his Dark Doings, you guess that the person is right behind the door!

3D M-City Factory Installation
Famous stencil artists M-City has a new, very interesting project! After creating the biggest stencil artwork worldwide some month ago, he started constructing and building the Fabryka.
The M-City factory produces nothing, it serves no useful purpose, but it stirs the senses nevertheless, and its huge dimensions emphasize the transformations that contemporary culture is undergoing. This factory needs no workers. The engines that keep it going require little attention. The ghostly nature of the installation evokes a vague sense of danger and forecasts the end of physical work.
