Yesterday, right after the doors of my exhibition opening closed, one of the currently most famous urban artists arrived in Berlin! Yep, Roa is back in town for his upcoming exhibition at Skalitzers Gallery… Simply entitled Transit, the show by the Belgian graffiti artist (his first solo-show in Berlin by the way!) includes new paintings presenting his internationally well-known graffiti animals! A few weeks after the abandoned art festival at Artbase Grabowsee will have taken place near Berlin, this year’s IBUg festival of urban culture will take place in the West Saxon city of Meerane! IBUg2011 represents an urban culture event that aims at bringing graffiti, street-art and installations closer to the public by embracing existing architecture, and concurrently establishing it as an independent form of art. This is why I’m always happy to find one or another new mural he created in the last months in Berlin! Tomorrow, we all have the chance to watch him in action… As a part of the Radical Riddims exhibition opening at the Schau Fenster Gallery, a live art performance by Mode2 is planned. Crazy Australian-born painter and installation artist Anthony Lister is going to come to Berlin next week for a big fat experimental art marathon! For 6 days and 6 nights he will live in Berlin’s Project Room being permanently creative and watched online… Tools, brushstrokes, spraypaint, electric guitar, doubts and hopes, hate and love, heroes on the walls, fallen dreams, questions and answers, visibles and invisibles - Mr. Lister will take the challenge to paint about, with and for Berlin. I just fall in with that astonishing collaboration art show by Remi/Rough and Australian artist Stormie Mills at Unit 44 in Newcastle. Both put together their totally different styles, combined Remi’s colorful, abstract graffiti lines with Stormie’s crazy, monochrome characters and created for that reason some eye-catching artworks delighting with somehow scary scenes in dope atmospheres… Remi/Rough and Stormie Mills have been traveling all over the world together for well over a decade now. This show is a narrative of some of those travels together. ...
Graffiti Exhibition | One of my favorite graffiti crews in Europe is - since I met some of them at the Meeting of Styles in London - the French Da Mental Vaporz (DMV) collective including the famous graffiti artists Dran, Bom-K, Brusk, Sowat, Gris, Jaw, Blo (who recently had an exhibition in Berlin), Kan and Iso. Now this marvellous crew is going to reunite for an exclusive group-exhibition at the GHP in Toulouse… After 5 years of hard work the guys in GHP are closing the venue.
