Urban Art Open-Call | Back in 2010, Polo Jeans Co. Ralph Lauren started the so called “Art Stars” campaign, for which famous urban artists like Case, Daniel Tagno, Delta, Herakut, L’Atlas, Roa, Smash137 and Sten & Lex customized their own 3D denim stars.
Now, they organized a open-call competition and ask you to create your own “Art Star”! Until February 4th you have time to become a star by downloading the “Art Star” kit, creating something original and submitting it…
If you’re a budding artist or designer this looks like something really worth getting your teeth into. Entrants will be required to submit a proposal which draws on Americana imagery. With a variety of mediums at your disposal be ready to draw your weapon of choice. Photography, painting, video, sound, light, performance and experimental approaches are all welcomed at this party.
If you’re lucky enough to win one of the 16 places, you’re in for a mentorship program with the likes of Jasper Joffe, Case, Hvass & Hannibal, Alëxone… which’ll see you hanging out and working in their studio with them for a week. Definitely not something you get to do everyday. (Via e-mail)
Boston-based curator Pedro Alonzo as well as London-based artist and curator Cedar Lewisohn and writer, editor and curator Franscesca Gavin are the judges so far, so try to impress them to have your work showcased in some of the top cities around the world, to experience working in a Mentor’s studio to create your star and to win a 1,000€ commission prize! I’ll keep my fingers crossed…
