Banksy’s subversive stencil work, satirical commentary, anonymous interventions, street art influence, political messaging, and global cultural phenomenon impact contemporary art.
Banksy remains the most enigmatic and influential figure in contemporary street art, transforming urban walls into powerful platforms for political satire and social commentary. This anonymous British artist’s stenciled works combine dark humor with sharp political critique, addressing issues from war and capitalism to surveillance and social inequality.
Banksy’s carefully maintained anonymity has become integral to his artistic identity, allowing the work to speak without the distraction of celebrity culture. His pieces often appear overnight in prominent locations, generating immediate media attention and public discourse.

Mr. Brainwash - Terrible Artist or Worst Artist ever?
After I watched Banksy’s “Exit Through The Gift Shop” yesterday, I have a split opinion about Thierry Guetta aka Mr. Brainwash.
Brainwash made millions of dollars with copying great street artists’ artworks, and I don’t know whether I should think that he’s a mean cheater or only a clever baddie?! The onliest thing I know is, that the people who call themselves “Mr. Brainwash Fans” are really brainwashed:
*Hundreds of people lined up in the cold on Sunday to attend the grand opening of Mr. Brainwash’s “Icons” exhibit in Manhattan’s Meatpacking District. Astonishingly, most of the diverse mix of hoodrats, art fags, and the cluelessly curious were ardent fans.

The film is billed as the world’s first street art disaster movie. For this reason, it looks like a film of a man who wanted to film Banksy but failed. Nevertheless there are a lot of famous urban artists, like Shepard Fairey, in the movie. I’m very curious to see the film. Here is a excerpt of the BBC’s article:
