Reverse Graffiti | I really laughed when I watched that new urban art project “Searching for Something Concrete” by interventional artist Brad Downey today, because I had the same idea together with an friend of mine a few month ago when we visited an exhibition in a gallery were the walls are periodically painted by artists, whitewashed by the gallery owner, painted by artists, whitewashed by the gallery owner, and so on…

We had the idea for something like an “reverse exhibition series”, where each wall layer would consistently be removed. Unfortunately this was more a joke that a real plan. Anyway, what Brad Downey in cooperation with professional restorer Magdalena Recova recently did is quite similar to my idea!

He worked on a small section of the graffiti wall of fame in Vienna for two days and removed several layers of paint by using various chemical and mechanical processes and rediscovered in that way parts of historically graffiti. Brilliant!
