Urban Art Show | The upcoming show by Niels “Shoe” Meulman, who recently painted a car in his well-known calligraffiti style, in Los Angeles seems to become rather interesting! It’s called “Calligraffiti Throw Ups” and features “new series of carbon acrylic on linen canvas works inspired by Shoe’s love for baseball, mayhem and cosmic unconsciousness”, which in my ears sounds quite spectacular with a lot of splatter effects, drips and of course high-level calligraphy…

Shoe is recognized for revolutionizing the art of writing with Calligraffiti, an art form that combines masterful calligraphy skills with the speed and attitude of graffiti. He launched this movement in 2007 with a successful solo exhibition in Amsterdam. Since then, his Calligraffiti pieces, which he signs NSM, have been presented in various international exhibitions. (press release)

I’m pretty sure, Shoe will give a totally new meaning to the word throw-up…The exhibition opens October 21st and runs until Nov 21st, 2010 at Project Space Gallery in LA.
