The godfather of detailed urban interior stencil artworks Evol recently finished his (probably first) piece in London! Being in the British capital for a big Christmas show with Pictures on Walls, Evol just left a first mark and spray painted a couple of concrete barricades near Smithfield Market. Again he created a incredible microcosms, including nice hand-finished miniature tags and pieces on his internationally well-known facade-stencils and again it’s just great to see another finished artwork by him. ...

Do you remember that brilliant miniature stencil art city, stencil artist Evol created in Dresden in 2009? That was awesome, right, but now he created another, new stencil city in Norway! Evol’s new stencil artworks in the streets of Stavanger are part of this years Nuart Festival and are my personal highlight of that urban art event, because they buck the trend to go big (see Dotmaster) and even bigger (see Blu) and integrate already existing graffiti tags. ...

Yesterday, I was asked whether I know a video of famous stencil artist Evol creating one of his proper stencil artworks. It’s amazing with which precision he forms interesting urban scenes by using several stencil layers. Sometimes it’s impossible to imagine how he did it and that’s why this video is that great. Two days ago, I was invited to visit the opening of the “Source/ Resource” group-exhibition at Wilde Gallery in Berlin. In addition to some works by contemporary artists like Antonio Santin and Awst&Walther they show new artworks by two of my favorite stencil artists, Evol and Pisa73! As always when I take a look at their very detailed and amazing artwork, I was really flashed, but also the artworks by Mirko Mielke, who presented a photo on concrete and a photo on a found wall, were very inspiring! ...

In August, the German street artist Evol hit Dresden and painted a whole stencil art city in a 10*8m hole in the ground on a abandoned slaughterhouse. That area was formerly - in 1832 - painted by Caspar David Friedrich and was used for utilization of carcass as recently as 15 years ago. Now, there’s a video documentation of that urban art installation, which shows in a very crude way the richness of detail of Evol’s stencil artworks. It’s impressive and somehow terrifying.
