Art Festival: Immersive Street Art & Graffiti Events

Berlin-based Quintessenz Creation crew is at least well-known in Germany for their spectacular stop motion videos showing color in motion and other urban art, especially when it’s about the power of true color! During this year’s IBUg street art festival the crew produced a new stop motion film, which went online just a few minutes ago! This time it’s a mix of stop motion and live sequences… Quintessenz is an artists collective based on a core group of former students from Hildesheim, Germany who founded the crew back in 2007. With the help of their films, they try to discover the power of color in abandoned areas and to analyze the effect of color on the environment what leads them to new, impressing paint-experiments…as you can see again is this new film! Nelio, Tblr*one and Zerozedrip recently redesigned a wooden fence into a nice palisade in the heart of the French city of Besançon! The entire action, which was documented by Sofarida, is part of the Bien Urbain street art festival. The festival’s aim is to make people realize the power of art on our everyday life perception on museums, theaters or clubs, and also on the streets, for what reason they invited several European street artists to participate… ...

Like M-City, Zbiok, Remed, Zonenkinder, 2Shy and other urban artists, also French street artist Louis Lambert aka 3ttman, who used to live in Madrid for quite a while, recently was invited by the Kiev street art festival Muralissimo to paint a facade in the Ukraine capital! Organized by the local Lavra Art Gally and supported by different European embassies, the Muralissimo festival tries to underline Kiev’s cosmopolitan attitudes with reference to the European football championship Euro 2012. ...

Although some friend from London recently told me that this year’s Meeting of Styles wasn’t as wicked as last year’s, on the hundreds of photos you can find online it looks like a big and crazy outdoor party! This annual British edition of the international Meeting of Styles event brings together some of the most talented graffiti artists from all over Europe and has grown from 15 artists and one main wall in its first year to a full scale outdoor block party and street exhibition in 2010 and 2011, including 60 handpicked graffiti artists painting walls, canvases, and boards throughout the day to a backdrop of hip-hop, reggae, ska and more… ...

In August 2011, 72 international urban artists, including for example Shoe, Aryz, Nick Walker, Mr. Jago, El Mac and SPQR (just to name a few), came together in Bristol, UK to celebrate Europe’s largest street art event. With about 13,000 involved spray-cans a whole street, including then huge buildings was transformed into a massive outdoor art gallery during See No Evil… Recently, Hurricane Media published their video documentary of the entire event and gives in that way a great insight into the ideas behind the event, which attracted thousands of visitors, and its final realization. Riddled with some nice impressions of the live painting actions the video documents not just the final pieces but also the amazing festival atmosphere. ...

As I already mentioned, famous French graffiti crew Da Mental Vaporz (DMV) has been busy in the last days painting a new huge wall in the beautiful city of Brest where the urban art festival Crimes of Minds is running since March! Recently Blo, Sowat, Dran, Bom.k and the rest of DMV finished spray-painting their new mural and because French photographer Awouell was around, I’m able to present you some first photos of the final piece. ...

During the IBUg 2011 preparation week I got the chance to document Berlin-based urban artist and creative mastermind Danny Doom aka Desur aka Doctor Doom while creating some nice paintings using spray-cans and brushes… Danny Doom started with graffiti, got into painting and traditional design till he ended up mixing traditional and digital art. Amongst others prices and rewards he received the reddot award, the if communication award and was winning finalist in both new york show time and new york festival award. (about Danny Doom) ...
