Art Festival: Immersive Street Art & Graffiti Events

After the Blu mural, also the famous urban art duo Herakut recently painted a new mural as a part of the CityLeaks festival in Cologne! Although the majority of you will be not able to understand the interview they did (don’t ask me why it’s not subtitled…), the video gives some nice insights into the creation-process and is for that reason worth watching… If you like to see some more of Hera and Akut in action, check out the installation they did in Newcastle, their mural in Yekaterinburg or the live-painting in London! I for one can’t get enough of their rough but also detailed style… ...

Do you remember the fantastic anti-BP mural artwork famous Italian street art grandmaster Blu painted as a part of the CityLeaks urban art festival in Cologne earlier this year? This year’s urban art festival IBUg was the reason for missing posts during the last week. Organized by famous German artist Ta55o (Ma’Claim crew) I stayed together with about 100 urban artists from all over Europe in an abandoned, former textile factory in Meerane, a small town in the eastern part of Germany and enjoyed the great feeling in the decayed buildings, nice talks with nice people and the general atmosphere (during the week I already uploaded some quick impressions on tumblr!)… ...

This September, the Bien Urbain street art festival is going to bring famous urban artists like Escif, Sam3, Moneyless, Nelio, Ox, San and others to the French city of Besançon! Bien Urbain will contribute to make people realize the power of art on our everyday life perception on museums, theaters or clubs, and also on the streets! End of the Line presents the British edition of Meeting of Styles with its 4th event in London. This annual event has grown from 15 artists and one main wall in its first year to a full scale outdoor block party and street exhibition in 2010. Part of a global calendar of events which produce the biggest aerosol and graffiti jam in the world… Starting on Saturday, August 13th 2011 8th of October (the event was postponed due to riots in London), this year’s Meeting of Styles UK will present a street festival, block party vibe, BBQ, Beats, and Bar with about 60 aerosol artists from all over the globe painting live throughout the weekend at The Studios (Holloway Road) in London! ...

Magnus Gustafsson aka Nug is a Swedish graffiti artist and has been called one of the worst graffiti vandals in Sweden. His latest project (the concept is fuck you, yes you) for the Fame Festival 2011 in Italy, which recently became famous being mentioned on vandalog.com, doobybrain.com, theworldsbestever.com, crackajack.de, juxtapoz.com, electru.de and rebelart.net (just to name a few), explains why… Together with some dressed in black friends (a few trained vandals, the others just good guys and girls), Nug hit different spots in the old city of Grottaglie and totally fucked up the walls with black spray-paint! ...

It’s urban art festival time in Germany, what’s a good reason for all of you to travel the forgotten, abandoned or public places and spaces in Berlin, Saxony or even Cologne… Artrmx and Colorrevolution are going to present the international urban art festival CityLeaks in Cologne this year! Artists from all over the world are invited to create large-scale murals, paste-ups and installations in public spaces, house fronts, off-locations and galleries during the festival’s outdoor action-week. A few weeks after the abandoned art festival at Artbase Grabowsee will have taken place near Berlin, this year’s IBUg festival of urban culture will take place in the West Saxon city of Meerane! IBUg2011 represents an urban culture event that aims at bringing graffiti, street-art and installations closer to the public by embracing existing architecture, and concurrently establishing it as an independent form of art.
