# Graffiti Documentary: Focusing Martha Cooper

The legendary [“Subway Art” book](http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0500273200?ie=UTF8&tag=berlinstreeta-21&linkCode=as2&camp=1638&creative=6742&creativeASIN=0500273200) by US-American graffiti photographer [Martha Cooper](/martha-cooper/), which was published in 1984, is a milestone in the medial writing documentation.

> “I’ve seen it grown from a specific, localized New York City phenomenon to what it is now a worldwide overground predominant movement and that’s gonna been an pretty exciting thing to watch...”
> (Martha Cooper)

My friend RJ from [the Vandalog blog](http://blog.vandalog.com/2010/03/martha-cooper/) met her last December and did that interesting interview with her.

She describes how she started photographing graffiti, what she loves about it and where she thinks it’s going.

Pretty interesting for everyone, who has at least something to do with graffiti or street art - Thanks RJ!
