Base23 & Morten Andersen - Hell Hounds from the North

Urban Art Exposition | The two urban artists Base23 and Morten Andersen have some things in common! First, both are Berlin-based artists. Second, both developed a unique and convincing style. Third, both are hell hounds from the north and fourth, both will exhibit at Pretty Portal Gallery in Düsseldorf at the end of this month! Morten Andersen attracted the public attention by using rhythmic forms and expressive, whirling colours. Base23 hypnotized people creating characters, that remind indian totems of the 23. century. The vigorous and graphical pieces of Base 23 build a strong contrast to the abstract works by Morten Andersen. Kelsey Brookes in Berlin!

Fine Art Show | Since last Thursday, brilliant and very colorful artworks by artist and former biochemist Kelsey Brookes from San Diego can be seen at Circleculture Gallery in Berlin. Brookes, who is well-known for his raw and energized style presents his latest “Caped Creatures” works, showing half human, half animal creatures mixed with letters, abstract explosions and neon colors… The creatures become a framework from which the figures anatomy is experimented with. Parts of these chimeras are missing, exaggerated or abstracted beyond functional reality in an effort to relate to the viewer their intense character or predicaments. The loosening of the figure as well as the strong and unique interplay with abstract forms and text, increases the sense of awe and wonder found in Brookes’ signature style. Short news for those of you who are in Berlin today: Circle Culture Gallery will open its doors for Jaybo’s “Hazardous Brushstrokes” exhibition this evening! Urban Art Sculptures: Boy Soldiers

Earlier this month, the urban art sculptures exhibition “Boy Soldiers” by fine artist Schoony and the Graffik London gallery opened it’s doors for the public. With a lot of better known street and graffiti artists on the guest list, the opening at the Blackall Studios was really successful! Each of the 25 participating urban artists (“the UK’s top artists of the current UK and European art scene”, as Hooked wrote) designed one of the fantastic Boy Soldier fibreglass sculptures by Schoony and created in that way some really good and especially unusual urban artworks. ...

Last Thursday, the Buenos Aires Calling group-exhibition opened at Pure Evil Gallery, showing unusual, rough street art from Argentina. It’s the first collective exhibition of work from Buenos Aires street artists in London - Naturally I was there and took some photos! Buenos Aires has one of the most active and unusual street art scenes in the world. An economic crash in 2001 acted as a catalyst for a generation of young artists to start painting in the streets. Boy Soldiers: Urban Art War in London?

Some of you will may know fine artist Schoony, who is a pro in creating humans out of fibreglass. His latest creation, the “Boy Soldier” is now the main part of an unusual urban art group-exhibition in London! Thirty, well-known graffiti and street artists, including D*Face, Insa, Fin DAC, Part2ism, Liliwenn, Snub23 and Leeks, repainted the thirty pure white boy soldier sculptures, which will be shown in two different venues, in their own styles. ...
