South America appears to be in vogue for graffiti and street artists at the moment. Hardly a week goes by without reports about new projects, photos or videos from the fourth-largest continent.
But mostly that are reports about established and/ or famous international artist, who made a trip there. What is not so much coming to light are the local artists - but there’s an end to it! “Graffiti Argentina” is called a book by Maximiliano Ruiz, which focuses on the more unknown artists.

“Graffiti Argentina is the first book about the local graffiti scene, which in the last few years has become one of the most original and recognized in the world.
This book traces the story of Argentina’s vibrant but little‐known graffiti scene in four parts – from the efflorescence of graffiti in the 1990s and artists’ city escapades, to the underground use of tags, train graffiti and political paintings, and the sketches and designs that have come off the street to influence the whole visual culture of this exciting country.”
After two successful launch parties in Barcelona and London, the second “Graffiti Argentina” tour will land in the cities of Paris and Berlin.
In Berlin the “Graffiti Argentina” party and exhibition will take place at the Neurotitan Gallery on October 9th. The German urban art group Herakrut will be on show together with the Argentine artists Jazz, Aire, Gualicho and Poeta. The audience can enjoy free drinks, art books presentation and live music performed by The True Ingredients (UK), celebrating their European summer tour 2009.
