Triumph & Tragedy: Revok in Hamburg

Big news for all writers, graffiti enthusiasts and vandals: Famous writer and graffiti artist Revok is going to open his first solo-show in Germany at Hamburg’s Vicious Gallery! Bringing together triumph and tragedy (that’s the title of the show), the Los Angeles based urban artist seems to present artworks based on found objects taken from the ruins of Detroit… As the found materials, also Revok’s history represents triumph and tragedy at the same time. Having one of his major successes by being part of this year’s Art in the Streets exhibit at LA’s Museum of Contemporary Art, he was sentenced to 180 days in jail by a judge a short while after the opening. For that reason, I think Revok’s Hamburg exhibition will include some highly personal artworks showing a mixture of great success but also downfall. ...

Matt Adnate Exhibition Photos

Do you remember the photo-series I took of Australian graffiti artist Matt Adnate, when he painted new works for his Berlin solo-show? Last week, he finally opened the show at Box32 Gallery, simply entitled Point of View, and of-course I joined the party together with some friends and - in addition to some good drinks - took some quick photos… I’ve seen a lot of different faces in my travels of the past 6 months. From the eyes of kids that have lived the lives of adults in India, to people losing there faces in clubs in Berlin. ‘Point of View’ seemed like the perfect title for my show, as all of the faces in the show are my interpretations of people I’ve recently seen and met. Sozyone’s New Works

Graffiti Fine Art | I have to say that I somehow like these new artworks by graffiti legend Sozyone, he presents at Alice BXL Gallery in Brussels since yesterday. After his participation at the “Turmkunst” event in Berlin in 2010, I heard nothing new of him…until now! Three years have passed since Sozyone’s last exhibition at the gallery. I totally forgot to write something about that nice abstract graffiti, installation, architectural art exhibition by Dutch graffiti legend Boris Tellegen aka Delta, which took place last week in Paris. I’m glad that the Street Giant posted some photos from the show… With exposure around the world, the artist has been praised for his non-traditional approach to graffiti art. Some days ago, I told you to visit the recent exhibition by Berlin based street artist and graphic designer Superblast at the Merry Karnowsky Gallery in Berlin. Today I had some time to go there and took some photos! Superblast’s art installation, named “The Shadow Of The Future”, is a room full of hand-painted artworks, which show several icons as well as symbols of world religions and cults. Berlin-based urban artist Manuel Osterholt aka Superblast is going to have a new exhibition in Berlin this month! Since 1989, Superblast discovered the world of graffiti, which made him detect his own, Hip Hop, Punk Rock and skateboarding influenced style.
