Sydney City Council has been accused of vandalism after visiting American artist Barry McGee has controversially painted the wrong wall! As I just read on Yahoo News (thanks to Skalitzers for the link!), McGee painted a wall by mistake when he visited Sydney for the Art & About festival that takes art out of the gallery setting and into the streets: Critics are claiming Barry McGee’s artwork is glorified vandalism. During the last week, well-known French graffiti artist Blo, who is a member of the famous Da Mental Vaporz (DMV) crew, painted a huge new black-and-white mural in Berlin! After Caleb Neelon’s wall and the painting by Victor Ash, this is the third part of Berlin’s Wedding Walls mural art project. In my eyes, this monochromatic, 25 meters high piece totally works out with the old-school Berlin wall color (some kind of light beige-shit-brown) and is a new attraction in Berlin’s north! ...

London-based photographer Brian David Stevens just informed me about his latest project: Documenting writers at the well-known Leake St Tunnel in London! At the moment this graffiti-photography series includes some quite nice, contrasty snap-shots, focusing not the finished piece but the artists and their equipment… Leake St Tunnel, also known as Banksy tunnel, was initially decorated with graffiti during the Cans Festival back in 2008. Since then it’s legal to paint inside the tunnel, for what reason it attracts a lot of London-based writers and tourists. ...

Urban artists Karl Addison and James Bullough recently finished their new purple mural art works in Berlin! Curated by Etsy and in between the heart of Kreuzberg, the mural shows an elderly women by Addison - the idea of life, inspiration and history - and Bullough’s trademark arrows and combines in that way energy and life-experience. As James informed me yesterday, in addition to this funny mural there’s also a nice video they just put together, which documents the entire project. For that reason I’m able to share this three minutes mural art documentary with you! Seems they had a lot of fun… ...

Sampa Graffiti is a video series that focuses on graffiti artists and their work in the city of São Paulo and it’s surrounding areas. Each episode is dedicated to an artist that create a piece throughout the video while talking about his thoughts on graffiti and arts in general. Recently the 12th episode has been published, featuring Cranio (English: Skull), a 29 years old graffiti artist who speaks about his roots, Brasilian graffiti in general and his vision of his graffiti career… ...

Back in April 2011, Remi/Rough and System from Agents Of Change crew painted a large scale mural commemorating three influential graffiti-kings: Dondi, Jean-Michel Basquiat and RammellZee! I think they did a good job and although in my eyes it’s quite hard to decide who is worth commemorating it’s a nice step into the right direction, because it’s actually respect and recognition what’s sometimes missing in today’s so-called urban art scene… For more info about Agent of Change, visit agents-of-change.co.uk. Australian urban artist Matt Adnate is in Berlin right now, preparing new artworks for his upcoming solo-exhibition at Box32! He recently invited me to his studio… Born and raised in Melbourne Adnate, who is part of the AWOL crew, originally comes from plain letter-writing but started creating photo-realistic paintings and has also worked with larger than life canvases, wooden sculptures and mural works in the last years. His latest urban artworks combine the rough nature of spray-painted tagging styles and the fineness of portrait-painting and can also be found in some abandoned areas in and around Berlin! ...

End of the Line presents the British edition of Meeting of Styles with its 4th event in London. This annual event has grown from 15 artists and one main wall in its first year to a full scale outdoor block party and street exhibition in 2010. Part of a global calendar of events which produce the biggest aerosol and graffiti jam in the world… Starting on Saturday, August 13th 2011 8th of October (the event was postponed due to riots in London), this year’s Meeting of Styles UK will present a street festival, block party vibe, BBQ, Beats, and Bar with about 60 aerosol artists from all over the globe painting live throughout the weekend at The Studios (Holloway Road) in London! ...

One of my most favorite urban artists, the Spaniard Aryz, lately painted another huge wall - this time in the Italian city of Civitavecchia! I don’t think I have to say that much about that astonishing new mural artwork, its fantastic colors and size - just have a look and be impressed! - but it’s definitely worth to make some words about the artist! Originally born in California Aryz is now based in Barcelona and part of the fantastic MM Crew. Inspired by Os Gemeos, Sagüe, Roid, Dran, Popay, Mode2 and others he started painting large-scale characters being well-known around the globe!
