These unauthorized actions bypass traditional gatekeepers to deliver messages directly to the public.

Discover how artists use stealth and strategy to provoke thought, spark conversations, and make their mark on cities—actions that exist briefly before removal but linger in public memory.
No Pants Subway Ride 2011
After 2009 and 2010 it’s time for another “No Pants Subway Ride”! Again, the New York based Improv Everywhere group calls for participation:
As in years past, there are No Pants Subway Rides happening in cities around the world on January 9, the same day as our annual event in New York. If your town has a subway system or some form of mass transportation (bus? trolley?), then get involved and organize your own ride…

EPOS 257 & The Appropriation of Public Space...
…with no apparent intent - Yeah, that’s a great example of a successful artistic intervention in public space! Back in September, EPOS 257 created a nice urban installation in the city of Prague, fencing 50 square meters of public space. The whole thing withstood about 54 days not just because it was embedded in concrete, but also because the council had no idea how to handle the situation…
In the current society, our living space is defined by legal norms and regulations, the same way as fences demark the choices of our free movement.

Banksy meets The Simpsons
Animated Banksy | Rats, tags, a unicorn, a lot of Chinese kids, an hard-working panda and almost 3 days without an accident, that’s the summary of that great intro of the latest “The Simpsons” episode, storyboarded and directed by none other than famous street artist Banksy himself!
It’s full of dark humour coupled with anti-Chinese prejudices and although I don’t really like the new Simpsons episodes that much I have to watch this one, because it’s “the first time an artist has been invited to storyboard part of the show” (Wooster) and will for that reason make history…

Ludo’s Co-Branding - New Street Art Series
Adbusting | French street artist Ludo, who is also known as Nature’s Revenge and became famous by pasting paper artworks showing combinations of technology and organic live, recently started a new street art series called “Co-Branding” in Paris.
Because of “brands use crappy ultra aesthetic images that no one understands to sell their stuff” (Ludo) he had the idea to create “Nature’s Revenge” posters for Chanel, Dior, Calvin Klein, H&M, and other brands and takeover some advertising light-boxes on the streets of the French capital.

Pollugraphy - Alexandre Orion
Do you remember Alexandre Orions? Yes, he’s the Brazilian reverse graffiti artist who created that amazing skull mural inside a car tunnel in Sao Paulo in 2007.
One of his latest urban art projects, called “Pollugraphies”, is again about pollution in the urban landscape. Orion uses a self-made construction, including paper and a metal stencil, to create stencil artworks out of car-pollution, brilliant idea! Sounds a bit freaky but is in my opinion a really nice project.

Watch Banksy’s Film Online! #Updated
I actually noticed that you can watch Banksy’s street art documentary “Exit Through The Gift Shop” online now, because someone uploaded it to the online video platform Vimeo! After I watched the film the first time I was a bit overexcited and wrote…
Exit Through The Gift Shop is a masterpiece of a street art documentary, a great film for those who have no knowledge about street art and its pioneers and a even greater film for those you have!

CCTV Birds: Urban Evolution?
It’s not the first technical evolution in urban environment and it’s not the first artistically protest against observations of public space, but the brilliant CCTV birds and the corresponding “panoptICONS” project by Thomas voor ‘t Hekke and Bas van Oerle are somehow special. Maybe it’s because of the strong politically, anti-control background, the great artistic implementation or the fantastic idea of cyborg-animals in a city…these urban installations are fuckin’ great, the public feedback confirms it!

Berlin’s Painting Reality
Do you remember that ominous massive paint attack in Berlin earlier this year? A group of unknown bikers hit the Rosenthaler Platz in the heart of Berlin and spilled about 500 liters of colorful, water-based environmentally-friendly paint on the asphalt. Back then, a rumor circulated in the web about whether this paint attack was just another form of guerrilla marketing or a brilliant urban art action?
Massive Paint Attack Video Today the official documentary video, named “Painting Reality”, was published by IEPE & the anonymous crew! It shows the whole procedure of spilling paint on the junction, which only took a few seconds.
