Some days ago, Jaybo Monk and Remi Rough meet each other at the Style Project Room in Berlin-Mitte, but before I write something about the “Jaybo Monk vs. Remi Rough” live-painting, I will wish you a happy new year, with a lot of creative ideas and great inspirations…
Born in France, Jaybo Monk came to Berlin in the 80th. Because of the variety of media, he uses to create his urban influenced artworks, and the fact that he’s the founder of the important “Style” magazine, he became a influential figure on the urban scene and internationally famous.
His opponent - Remi Rough - is also a very renowned graffiti writer, artist, illustrator, designer, art director and curator. In 2008 he held court at London’s Tate Modern as part of the Tate’s Street Art exhibition. His geometric swashes are well-known around the globe.
These two urban flagship artists, painted now against each other and created in that way a very interesting collaboration artwork:
As the name implies, “Jaybo Monk vs. Remi Rough” was an artistic battle. At the beginning, the two artists created their own paintings in their own style. Afterwards they changed their positions and repainted the artworks of their opponents.
