During the last days and weeks, I unfortunately had a lot to do, for what reason I was not able to mention all those great things going on in the urban art world. For two years now, I’m following the creative development of Italian street artist and yarn-bomber Moneyless and I have to say, I really love to the the progress his artwork’s evolution. Whereas the first artworks where simple plain geometrically yarn-patterns on walls, his latest works include more complex, three-dimensional rope structures wafting in the air as well as pretty nice geometrically murals and prints… For Fame Festival 2012, he recently brought together samples of all his skills. After hitting California, China and Lisbon, destruction muralist Alexandre Farto aka Vhils (here our interview with him), just popped up on the Archipelago of the Azores for the currently running Walk & Talk festival… Recently, he and his team finished up a pretty impressing decayed church mural! This new piece entitled Abraço to ruin (Embrace the ruin) depicts a women retaining the ruin’s walls as if protecting a child. This August the Institute for Contemporary Art (ICA) in Boston is going to present the first US solo exhibition by the Brazilian brothers Otavio and Gustavo Pandolfo, better known as Os Gemeos! But before they will open the exhibition doors tomorrow, the Os Gemeos twins are painting outside at both The Revere Hotel and on the ventilation building in Dewey Square… Best known as Os Gêmeos, the twins are a major force in graffiti and urban art. The twins have a deep bond; they are tireless collaborators and say that they often experience the same dreams. In an effort to share their dreams with the world, they depict their visions in surreal paintings, sculpture, and installations: human figures with removable faces, exploding bursts of color, and room-size heads installed with shanty interiors. With a line-up reading like the who-is-who of Europe’s urban mural artists - including DXTR, Nychos, Pixelpancho, Etam Cru, Arsek & Erase, ECB and many more - the probably biggest European street art festival Like it. Art, which took place in Kazan, the capital and largest city of the Russian Republic of Tatarstan, just finished. As promised a few days ago, I managed to get some impressions from there… Like it. Art Festival Large and medium scale graffiti appeared on the walls of around 40 objects across the city. The festival arranged under the project MadeInKazan also encompassed public master classes, lectures of the European artists, the best canvases exhibition, “Trash-truck hunting” night painting session and a graffiti contest. ...

Italian mural artist Pixel Pancho just came up with an fantastic Soviet-style piece in Kazan, Russia! This huge new mural is part of the Like It. Art festival in the capital and largest city of the Republic of Tatarstan. Announced as Europe’s largest street art and graffiti festival, Like It. Art took place between 17 to 22 July and was officially supported by the Mayor’s Office of Kazan. But although the line-up includes pretty big names like Etam Cru from Poland, Kislow from the Ukraine, Belin from Spain, Nychos from Austria, and of course Pixelpancho, I unfortunately haven’t heard much about this urban art festival before… ...

The urban art festival Frontier in Italy aims to be an important opportunity to show and underline how much the art of Writing and of Street Art have been so prominent and pioneering for the development of the contemporary international art scene, taking Bologna as an historical centre of production and observation. Recently, German 3D graffiti master DAIM finished a massive mural after eight days of work! The mural, located near the City Hall building at Via Fioravanti, now shows several layers of three-dimensional stars and a some writing popping out of the wall. Dope work again! ...

Since 2011, the urban art festival Crimes of Minds invites different artists from different countries to the French city of Brest to paint some walls. Today, about 20 graffiti and street artists including C215, Jef Aérosol, Best Ever, Guy Denning, Da Mental Vaporz, Morten Andersen and many more followed their invitations and started to transform the city into an urban art museum.
