It’s urban art festival time in Germany, what’s a good reason for all of you to travel the forgotten, abandoned or public places and spaces in Berlin, Saxony or even Cologne… Artrmx and Colorrevolution are going to present the international urban art festival CityLeaks in Cologne this year! Artists from all over the world are invited to create large-scale murals, paste-ups and installations in public spaces, house fronts, off-locations and galleries during the festival’s outdoor action-week. Well-known urban artists like Blu, (who already created the first mural) Emess, El Bocho, Faith47, Jim Avignon, Roa, Sam3, Smash137, Stefan Strumbel, Zedz and others already agreed, what makes CityLeaks becoming probably the biggest urban art festival on continental Europe. ...

After Chazme, Lump, Sainer and Sepe, Sam3 and Blu it’s now famous Spanish mural artist El Tono who painted two new mural artworks in Poland! El Tono, whose trademarks are wall paintings of abstract tuning forks, approves in that way my theory about Polish cities like Warsaw, Krakow or Szczecin becoming new hot-spots for street art in Europe. Also his comments show the wide support by the local citizens… The project was […] organized by the Vlepvnet foundation. Every year they invite local and international artists to work in the city. The building is located on Zlota street in the Wola neighborhood, close to the central station. Thanks to the help from the guys from vlepvnet, the volunteers and the support of the neighbors, we managed to finished the two murals in only seven days. (El Tono) ...

Graffiti legend and famous character-painter Mode2 did (as I mentioned before) a nice live mural art painting event at Schau Fenster Gallery in Berlin-Kreuzberg! Of course I joined this live painting event and took a few photos. Again it was impressing - not just for me but also for all the other visitors enjoying the characters becoming alive - to watch Mode adding his well-known dancing characters to such a big wall. ...

Mode2 is one of the most famous graffiti artists in Europe - his skills in bringing painted characters to live are well-known around the world. This is why I’m always happy to find one or another new mural he created in the last months in Berlin! Tomorrow, we all have the chance to watch him in action… As a part of the Radical Riddims exhibition opening at the Schau Fenster Gallery, a live art performance by Mode2 is planned. He will create a new mural painting! In my eyes this is a must to see for every urban art enthusiast. I will definitely try to catch up with him… ...

Several weeks ago I already posted about the nice new mural artworks by urban art superstar Roa in Mexico. Back then, I didn’t know that his works were well documented on film by Filmaciones de la Ciudad, what’s really good, because we have now the chance to watch him painting… The Belgian graffiti artist travels the world since a few months, for what reason you can find his works in Madrid, London, Paris, Berlin and other metropolises! I for one like Roa’s animal graffiti stuff, and it’s always impressing to see how some skilled artists are possible to paint those massive walls… ...

I personally met Spanish street artist Rallito X first when I visited Madrid earlier this year. Yesterday I hook up with him again, this time in an abandoned area in the eastern part of Berlin, to explore the rooms of this old sausage factory and to extend my photo-collection of urban artists in action… In the end, Rallito, whose dirty monster paintings are often garnished with comic-like dicks and provoking slogans, found a nice spot on the very top of the building, for what reason I had some special butterflies in my stomach during the whole action. Nevertheless the results are great again: Berlin has a new crazy monster character and my collection has some nice, new photos! ...

Fin Dac in Brest As already mentioned, stencil artist FinDAC and abstract graffiti artist Morten Andersen currently painted at the Crimes of Minds urban art festival in Brest. Recently Fin published some first impressions of one of his murals and arouse in that way a burst of enthusiasm, for what reason I don’t want to withhold those photos from you! I met FinDAC first during my London-trip last year and was quite surprised when I got to know that I is - with good reason - a well-known stencil artist on the Isles, because I haven’t heard of him before. His mainly Asian-inspired stencil motives are characterized by really detailed handwork, sparkling shadows, complex patterns and a good pinch of freehand spray-painting - his brilliant Jimi Hendrix stencil artworks are good examples! ...

The last time I wrote about British urban artist Word To Mother was after my visit of his exhibition opening at Stolen Space Gallery in London. Now I just stumbled upon this dope video by Andrew Telling showing Word To Mother painting for the Fame Festival in Italy back in 2010. Born and raised in a small English seaside town, never far from a stoney beach, crashing waves and salty sea veterans. It’s this environment that has had such impact and influence on Word to Mothers work and can be seen throughout his drawings and paintings… (Stolen Space Gallery) ...

sam3 in poland Mural Art | In the last months a lot of new large-scale mural artworks were created by famous urban artists in Poland - One good example is this amazing jazz time mural in Szczecin, another the new Blu wall in Krakow. Recently street art legend Sam3 hit the streets of Poznan and also created a new huge mural artwork! The painting, which again is done in his well-known shadow technique, shows a human being circle orbiting around a glowing ball. Entitled Power to the People, this artwork is dedicated to Spain’s May 15th movement of young people protesting all over Spain and appeals really powerful in my eyes… ...

Urban Art Festival | After Best Ever and Ben Slow now highly talented London-based stencil artist FinDAC and well-known Berlin-based abstract graffiti artist Morten Andersen rock the city of Brest! It’s the second episode of the urban art festival “Crimes of Minds” which is organised by French graffiti artist Liliwenn and the non-profit organization Sugar Rush… The idea behind that event is to bring the creative flair of the big metropolises around the world to this small French town and to document the artworks as well as the artists at work and additionally the reactions of the citizens. For that reason there will be a book recapitulating the entire “Crimes of Minds” process! ...
