The latest Urban Art Eye Candy link-tips are already a while ago, but today I found some time to go through the deep archive of my feed reader to filter out the really interesting things - And of course there are also a lot of new entries in the Urban Artcore flickr-group, so calm down, relax, and take a look at these great street art and graffiti news… Interview: Mode 2 Filthygorgeousthings.com did a nice interview with Mode2 on hip hop, sex, art, and graffiti! There are only some hours left, before we could take a more or less long, but wonderful weekend with a lot sunshine, cold drinks and maybe a bathing trip. One of the most famous mural artists around the world, the Bologna-based urban artist Blu, recently published another new wall-painted animation…its name: “Big Bag Big Boom”! As Blu describes, the video shows “an unscientific point of view on the beginning and evolution of life … and how it could probably end” and looks really amazing, but that’s nothing new after his fabulous collaboration with David Ellis at Fame Festival last year or his re-known animation “Muto”. ...

In addition to the nice Wooster Collective meet-up and the Mode2 live-painting I was on the run with Australian tape artist BUFFdiss. Armed with some rolls crepe tape and wearing some darker clothes, he created two nice tape artworks on an old industrial area…and while he taped around, I took some dark action photos! BUFFdiss started creating tape artworks several years ago and moved in that way on from the traditional graffiti and its spray-cans…it was really impressing how fast he made the artworks ready and at the same time we both were impressed with the reactions by some passing people, who were really wondering about what he did… ...

As I mentioned some days ago, famous graffiti artist Mode2 painted live in Berlin yesterday! The outstanding artists created a great mural artwork at the “Jacki Terrasse” in Berlin and I was allowed to take some photos of the otherwise camera-shy artist and his doings… It was really great to see how easily he painted that rough wall just with brushes. The new wall now shows a collection of different rawish characters and creates for that reason a very comfortable urban atmosphere. The great thing about Mode2 and his mural artwork is, that he painted everything without having any sketch on paper or some thing like that…I was really impressed! ...

Do you remember that great mural art event which took place in Lisbon two weeks ago? Blu, Sam3 and Os Gêmeos painted two abandoned houses in the city of the Portuguese capital! Spanish street artist Sam3 just released the time-lapse video which was created while he painted his huge “La Noche” mural artwork. In addition to my sympathy for the street artworks by Sam3, it’s really interesting for me to see the development process of large-scale, kick-ass artworks like that one. It’s the third time, that I have PictureReport in the program. The first time I wrote about the filmmakers crew was last winter, when they published that beautiful urban winter atmosphere video. And then, four weeks ago I wrote about the first two parts of their abandoned places series. This time, I write because they filmed another known abandoned place in Berlin: The NSA station Teufelsberg Berlin, which is empty since Americans and Britons left the listening station in 1991.
