Two of the very best and popular European graffiti artists, Nychos (here in Berlin) and Flying Fortress (here in Berlin) just teamed up in Vienna and made together a propper and massive start into 2012: Mother Bear Graffiti Nychos and Flying Fortress, both well-known for their clean, detailed characters created an impressing piece, showing the anatomy of a pregnant mother bear - what a great idea! Hopefully they are keen for some more collaboration productions this year - I will keep you posted. But now, watch the documentary and like their styles! ...

The Black Hills (named after their dark appearance from a distance) are a small, isolated mountain range rising from the Great Plains of North America in western South Dakota. In November 2011, Shepard Fairey and his team created a huge mural in Los Angeles to call attention on the many problems of the native’s reservation… We worked together with Shepard Fairey over the next several months to collaborate and bring something to the streets of Los Angeles. With help from Miguel of La Barracuda this 20x60 wall on Melrose Ave at Fairfax was secured. What you see here is the culmination of the tireless efforts of Aaron Huey and Shepard Fairey. ...

Originally from Baltimore and Seattle the two urban artists James Bullough and Karl Addison (together known as JBAK) are pushing urban art in Berlin for round about a year now, creating colorful murals (like the purple one they did last year) by combining photo-realism, geometric forms and fine line drawing styles. After he painted in nearly every European metropolis (check out the Blu murals in Europe) in 2011, Italian street artist Blu is on a trip through South America right now, painting one mural after another… Argentina’s Blu Murals Especially the Argentinian capital Buenos Aires seems to be one of his favorite target: After he painted that impressive mural of obediently leader following Argentinian folks back in November 2011 and the funny BBQ mural and the Blu Planet painting in December, the Italian mural king came up with a new money river mural just a few days ago! ...

A few months ago, Terence Pratt shot a nice time laps video of a Herkaut mural creation progress! Germany’s most famous urban art duo spent some weeks in Los Angeles, creating some amazing wall paintings presented by the Do Art Foundation! Herakut Mural Art Although I photographed Hera and Akut a few times now (e.g. in London and Berlin), it’s great to the the both creating those amazing murals! Furthermore I hope they will go on traveling the world as they did in 2011 - I’d like to see more Herakut mural art around the globe! ...

Yep, it’s the end of the year which means that it’s time for the annual top-list reviews! Back in 2010, Barcelona-based street artist Zosen opened his System Collapse exhibition at StolenSpace Gallery in London, now it’s Tilt’s turn to bring anarchy to the UK… The French graffiti artist, who is renowned for painting on buildings, canvases and naked women, recently repainted the famous magic wall of Village Underground which before was used by Australian tape artist Buff Diss for his Make Something from Nothing tape works! While Tilt created a huge Union Jack painting, made up of lyrics from the Sex Pistols God Save the Queen, Benjamin Roudet used to document the entire process! The result is a dope video, showing a controversial graffiti artist painting a provocative wall. Well done!

With his technically masterful, contemporary portraits and his sensational art of destruction, including exploding walls, Alexandre Farto aka Vhils soon became one of the most skilled and talented young artists in today’s urban art scene, for what reason I’m really happy that I did this nice interview with him in 2010! Earlier this year, Gestalten published a fist book about the art of Vhils. Including a preface by Marc and Sara Schiller (who you probably better know as Wooster Collective), the book presents not just Vhils’ popular wall stencils, but also other projects he worked on between 2007 and 2011, like the Nothing lasts Forever and To Have or to Be series, or Scratching the Surface and the Disintegration series. It also includes his major exhibitions at Lazarides Gallery in London and Los Angeles… ...

Like M-City, Zbiok, Remed, Zonenkinder, 2Shy and other urban artists, also French street artist Louis Lambert aka 3ttman, who used to live in Madrid for quite a while, recently was invited by the Kiev street art festival Muralissimo to paint a facade in the Ukraine capital! Organized by the local Lavra Art Gally and supported by different European embassies, the Muralissimo festival tries to underline Kiev’s cosmopolitan attitudes with reference to the European football championship Euro 2012. ...

I was really happy, when I noticed the latest murals by a French crew of urban artists called Animae Dementia. As they report on their blog, they are exploring Berlin right now - After they hit the old NSA station Teufelsberg they recently left their marks on the walls of the abandoned Bärenquell Brewery! Being well equipped with straps and other climbing stuff, they are able to abseil themselves from the roof and paint formerly inaccessible wall parts. Nevertheless it’s not just the technique, but also the resulting murals, showing crazy, comic-like animals, which are just amazing! ...
