Freedom Park Berlin

Do you remember the Berlin Wall Freedom Park exhibition which was created for the 50th anniversary of the beginning of building the Berlin Wall in 1961? Recently the organizing Dudes Factory published a nice video documenting the creation process and including some nice statements by participating artists like Nunca, Anton Unai, Miss Van and McBess! Da Mental Vaporz Mural in Brest

As I already mentioned, famous French graffiti crew Da Mental Vaporz (DMV) has been busy in the last days painting a new huge wall in the beautiful city of Brest where the urban art festival Crimes of Minds is running since March! Visual Intervention, Mural Art Project in Rochester

In July 2011, a first-of-its-kind public art mural project called Visual Intervention took place in Rochester, NY bringing together local artists and a group of four artists from Cape Town, SA, including Faith47, DAL, Mak1 and FreddySam who shared their talents and painted several nice murals in hopes of inspiring the Rochester community… Finally, the corresponding documentary was published last week which I don’t want to deforce from you. Sydney: McGee Wall to be Buffed!

Sydney City Council has been accused of vandalism after visiting American artist Barry McGee has controversially painted the wrong wall! As I just read on Yahoo News (thanks to Skalitzers for the link!), McGee painted a wall by mistake when he visited Sydney for the Art & About festival that takes art out of the gallery setting and into the streets: Critics are claiming Barry McGee’s artwork is glorified vandalism. Ozmo’s Big Fish Mural, London

For a few weeks I have a nice new contact over in London. Her name is Petra Valenti, she is a talented photographer (check out her latest works on tumblr!) and knows the local street art and graffiti scene quite well, for what reason she will be some kind of a roving reporter for Urbanartcore in future. The first of her photo-series I’d like to show you is the documentary of the new Big Fish Eat Small Fish mural by Italian painter and street artist Gionata Gesi aka Ozmo which was done during the last days! Again he used his well-known illustrative collage-style to create a new, astonishing painting. Blo - New Mural in Berlin

During the last week, well-known French graffiti artist Blo, who is a member of the famous Da Mental Vaporz (DMV) crew, painted a huge new black-and-white mural in Berlin! After Caleb Neelon’s wall and the painting by Victor Ash, this is the third part of Berlin’s Wedding Walls mural art project. In my eyes, this monochromatic, 25 meters high piece totally works out with the old-school Berlin wall color (some kind of light beige-shit-brown) and is a new attraction in Berlin’s north! ...

Manolis Anastasakos: Praying in Athens

When I stumbled upon the huge new mural by Manolis Anastasakos and the Kretsis crew in Athens two days ago, I was highly impressed - and not just me! Rero, La Jarry, Paris

I just received an e-mail by well-known French urban artist Rero, who informed me about a ruthless initiative by the city of Paris, who plans to break down the beautiful La Jarry, an old, huge and crazy building near Paris, which is used by many artists as studio and exhibition space… To escape of this tragic end, several artists organised the exhibition-series Saving La Jarry, which also includes a work by Rero, who was invited to paint one big word on the huge facade: the crossed out letters PARADIGM!
