New York Underground | Steve Duncan seems to become a new super hero for all the urban explorers out there. The New York based urban historian and photographer and his videographer Andrew Wonder recently published their Undercity film, which documents their adventures in the underground of New York City.

The film, which is in addition to the New York Underbelly project another big urban exploring story, became very popular within hours.
I try to peel back the layers of a city to see what’s underneath. From the tops of bridges to the depths of sewer tunnels, these explorations of the urban environment help me puzzle together the interconnected, multi-dimensional history and complexity of the great metropolises of the world. Although it’s rather careless by Steve to show his plain face (everything “was filmed without consent or permits from the New York Transit Authority”), he did a great job and gives fantastic insights into what’s beneath the city. I hope some more people will be inspired by this film and start to explore their own city in a similar way. But please, don’t forget to blur your face before you publish your material…
