Urban Contamporary Art | Although I follow the urban art gallery scene for years now, I never noticed the alternative urban contemporary art gallery “Galeria Autonomica”, which is taking place on April 7th in an so-called off-location (a loft appartment) in the city of Munich… Galeria Autonomica shows and collects contemporary, urban art in any form. All the different trends, defining the urban art idea, including street art, graffiti, illustration and hybrid forms, are the focus areas of each exhibition. There’s no commercial orientation, just the focus on young subcultural positions has priority. The urban environment is the main source of inspiration of all exhibiting artists. It’s the month of urban art fairs and festivals. In addition to the Stroke.03 in Berlin and the Moniker in London, the urban art festival “Escape 2010” will take place in Vienna until the end of October. Enthralling national and international artists were invited to the exhibition in order to display and communicate the current positions of urban art. This October will be hot, at least in Vienna. There will in fact meet some of the big names of the international urban-inspired art scene…Anton Unai, Faith47, Jaybo aka Monk, Marco Pho Grassi, Nomad, Stefan Strumbel, Xoooox and others will exhibit together at the Kunsthalle Wien Vordere Zollamtsstrasse 3 in Vienna. Famous urban artist Nomad, the self-proclaimed pink ninja, recently sent me some photos of his reservoir dam action on Grand Canary. Some days ago, he transformed one of the biggest dams into a wishing well by painting the slogan “Make A Wish” on its front. *It would have been more visible if he’d done it in black, but there is enough black surrounding our wishes. Let our wishes be pink and soft and playful. There was nothing aggressive in this intervention besides a militancy of attention that was absolutely necessary for a successful mission. ...

Right after Ron English’s cover for the “Color Ink Book” reminded me of Nomad’s “Rainbowcoloured Tears of a Clown” art exhibition, I found out that Nomad updated his picture-blog! As an original street artist, Nomad developed his expressional variants conceptually and technically through interactive projects in interior and exterior spaces: combining writing and street art with poetry and classical painting. His recent project was the so called “Land Art” project, where Nomad transfers the ideas and intentions of street art into the wild nature… ...

The “Color Ink Book - The DIY Art Periodical” is - as I think - a very interesting piece of art magazines, because it showcases both, established artists as well as fresh faces. Yesterday, one of Berlin’s most famous urban artists Nomad opened his recent exhibition “Rainbowcoloured Tears of a Clown” at the Circleculture Gallery. “Circleculture Gallery is pleased to announce its first solo exhibition featuring the artist Nomad.
