In history, garages are well-known for their contribution to mankind. Garages gave birth to Microsoft, Hewlett-Packard, Apple, Iggy Pop and other garage bands, etc. Now, a Berlin-based art project gives away nine free garage studios for artists in Berlin…
*This is an open call for a nice project in August. The winner gets 1.000 Euro. The participants get a GDR-style double garage for 3 weeks to do whatever he/she wants.
From August 8 to 30, 2012 Natulis Art Temporary offers nine free studios for artists in Berlin’s Scharnhorststraße 32. Located in close vicinity of Hamburger Bahnhof and right behind Invalidenpark. Natulis provides free temporary studio space to ambitious and energetic artists seeking a community of like-minded people in a unique and experimental environment.
Sizes range from 44 to 55 m2 of raw studio space (old GDR-style garages). The successful applicant will be able to use the studio space free of charge, but „as is“. There are no fees for utilities and the garages can be returned in any state imaginable.
At the end of August we will host a weekend of open studios and invite the general public as well as an arts audience of curators and critics. The Natulis Group pledges a € 1000 prize for the best studio presentation during this weekend.
Please send your application (PDF with CV, portfolio of 7 artworks max and a proposal for the space) to: info@natberlin.com Deadline: July 20, 2012*
