Futura 2000 Photos

As I told you, graffiti legend Futura 2000 started his new exhibition “Odyssey Two” yesterday in Berlin! I had some time and visited the graffiti show in the former 95 Gallery at 9pm. At that time, about 40 or 50 people, including famous graffiti artist Part One, partied the opening with drinks and music for free. While I took two or three drinks too, I surveied Futura’s very interesting, modern graffiti artworks and marker sketches and of course photographed them. ...

Seak One & his Blackbook

While I was in Paris some days ago, I was able to take some shots of Seak One’s blackbook! As you can see on the photos, he explains the development of some of his recent artworks. For me it was interesting to see how his abstract-looking 3D spray-paints are inspired by letters. Or how the Cologne city coat of arms influenced the graffiti he did on the Thalys. Maybe you have some time to take a look at the whole “Seak One and his Blackbook” photo-series. It’s really interesting! ...

Street Photography: Documenting the Human Condition

Two week ago, Chris Weeks published his street photography documentation series, which is simply named “Street Photography: Documenting the Human Condition”. The three parts of this documentation give an insight into the manner of taking photos in the urban, public space and tries to get to the bottom of how street photography changed the view of seeing the world around us. “I think I started to forget things and […] when I’m taking a picture of something it helps me not to forget. I start to shoot a lot. I started to shoot people […] I just need to save it somewhere. An dif you have a photo you can also share it to others. That’s a good thing about it. You just share, what’s happening in your world, what’s happening around […]. So I think, everybody who takes street pictures has their own view of it.” (Severin Koller, photographer) ...

Part One - The Death Squad

Yesterday I visited my friend Marc. He is the curator of the ATM Gallery in Berlin, which is dedicated to street art, urban art and graffiti. While we talked to each other, an old man came into the gallery, which is currently presenting the Emess stencil art show “What’s the colour of money?”. To cut a long story short, this relatively old man was no less a person than graffiti legend Part One himself! Already in 1974, Part One was part of the most influential style writers of New York. His innovative letters and color-concepts characterized the graffiti development worldwide. ...

Blu & David Ellis at Fame Festival

“Combo - A Collaborative Animation” is a new and amazing motion painting animation done by famous street artists, painters and filmmakers Blu and David Ellis. It’s one of their artworks for the urban art festival “Fame” in Grottaglie, Italy. Blu and David Ellis combine in this action the interesting location of an old, abandoned house, a lot paint and their inspiring creativity to a synthesis of the arts, which can only be viewed in this video. I love it!

Freedom Of Space - Skateboard Culture in Public Space

Freedom Of Space - Skateboard Culture in Public Space

Do you know the skateboarding documentation “Freedom Of Space”? I read about it some days ago and thought, it’s a bit dated, but who cares?! When most people think of the word environment, say think of rivers, mountains and lakes - the natural environment. But for most of us, our environment is quite different. (The introduction) Freedom Of Space is a very interesting film, by Steve Olpin and Tim Irvin, about skateboard culture in public space. It has a look at the street skaters and their social and political conflict with the urban environment and publicity. ...

Samparkour - Parkour in São Paulo

Samparkour - Parkour in São Paulo

When I think of São Paulo, I have mainly Pixação in my mind. What I didn’t know until I watched this video is, that the urban trend sport Parkour becomes more and more popular in the Brazil Metropolis. “Samparkour” is an almost 7 minutes long short film, which was part of the Los Angeles Brazilian Film Festival 2009 (LABRFF) and impresses with great pictures and impressions. It reveals the city of São Paulo under the look of Parkour. ...
