BMX Action by Johnny Devlin

“Into The Void” by “The Shadow Conspiracy” is a great BMX documentary with a lot of violent street action. Well-known riders like Owain Clegg, Alistair Whitton, Dropsy, Bjoern Elvering, Niki Kroft and Johnny Devlin are shown by different camera angles while riding through urban landscapes and having a lot of fun. My friend from bigot.net recently found a powerful video clip about BMX action by Johnny Devlin. ...

Talk to Mr. Ed Templeton

Ed Templeton is not only pro skateboarder, contemporary artist, painter, writer and photographer - no - he is one of the “Beautiful Losers”! In addition to that, he has his own skateboard company, named “Toy Machine” and belongs to the hip creative head of our time. Also in Berlin artworks of him were shown a few week ago, when he exhibited along with Pettibon and McGee at the Circle Culture Gallery. ...

Out of Time - Urban Extreme Sports

They jump, they climb, they get freaky - Since yesterday, there’s an other amazing urban extreme sports video clip, called “Out of Time”, on the web. Some guys from Russia filmed their Parkour-inspired playground action and made a respectable fifteen minutes video out of it. Their main focus is on some big monkey bars, but they’re also jumping from roof to roof or into the water… ...

Photos: Besdo Garsía, Saddo & Others

Today I visited the art, design and fashion gallery Box32 the first time, because of the first solo show of Besdo Garsía in Berlin. “Refered to him as “one of Madrid’s best kept secret” on Ekosystem, he is one of the most talented graffiti writers of Spain. After so many years painting walls all over Spain and specially in his home town, Madrid; he presents this great chance to see his new studio works that he has been developing during the last year.” (Box32) ...

D*Face Studio Visit

My friends from Arrested Motion visited the studio by British street artist D*Face some days ago and made an interesting interview with the man himself. D*Face - Unamerican Graffiti AM: Are you planning on subjecting the viewers of the exhibition to some kind of aversion therapy and bombard them with graphically violent images? D*Face: Yes, the title obviously comes from “A Clockwork Orange,” and the scene where Alex has his eyes pinned open. It’s not meant to be taken literally from the title. The idea is that’s what happens anyways in our lives, whether you like it or not. Advertising is a very cruel and clever game that’s played and I’m fascinated with the things that are communicated to us and how they are communicated to us over our life cycle – daily, to yearly, to decades – and what parts of that you retain, and when and why. ...

Skate & Create 2: The Winners

There are a lot of skateboarding competitions out there, but this one I like really much, ’cause it combines the urban sport with design and creative ideas! “The Legend Of Boxton Square” by skateboard crew Etnies is the winner of this years “Skate & Create” skateboarding contest by Transworld. The video is really nice although I haven’t seen all contest clips yet. If you’re interested in getting to know the people a little bit closer, take a look at the interview with two of the crew member, Kyle Leeper and Mike Taylor!

Invader - Off the Wall

Tile installations by his “Space Invader” project can be seen all over the world. His artworks and exhibitions are a mixture of nerd style and contemporary urban culture. Who is meant is, of course, the French urban artist Invader! In this video interview, he traces the birth of his signature pixelated mosaic style, his invasion of 40 cities worldwide and the concept behind his “Top 10” Rubikscubism exhibit at the Jonathan LeVine Gallery. ...

Pisa73 - Fine Stencil Show

Pisa73, one of the best stencil artists I know, will start his new urban art exhibition, named “Grains of Wrath”, in Berlin this Friday! Pisa73 – Foul! Repulsive! Detestable! The show will present new (spray) paintings by the Berlin based artists with a focus on institutional and corporate authority and its traditional misuse of power. “Drawing primarily on the events of Walpurgnisnacht at the end of April each year, when riots commonly erupt in Berlin, Pisa73’s latest series of work depicts moments of unmitigated aggression between police and protesters, but does so with a pervading stillness, a disconcerting calm, that undermines the chaos that these subjects suggest. These fleeting images depict the transgressions of public disobedience, but are rendered quietly in elusive scenes that only reveal themselves upon careful reflection and meditation.” (Wilde Gallery) ...

“Robots vs. Monsters vs. Art Toys”

One of Berlin’s most interesting shops for urban design, vinyl toys, fashion and art “Big Brobot” celebrated its fifth birthday at the last weekend! In addition to a special birthday sale and some surprises, the “Big Brobot” team invited to their “Robots vs. Monsters vs. Art Toys” exhibition at the Superplan Gallery! How the name indicates, there were exhibited a lot of vinyl robots, monsters and other toys. The show runs until September 10th. I already visited “Robots vs. Monsters vs. Art Toys” and took some photos…really nice! ...
