Tape Art: Pool Installation - Buffdiss

Tape Art: Pool Installation - Buffdiss

Tape Art Installation | A few weeks ago, internationally well-known urban tape artist Buffdiss started to tape a large-scale installation in the big abandoned swimming pool at Stattbad, an more or less alternative art and culture area in Berlin. He invited me to come along and to photographically document the artworks progress and so I did. Those of you who already know my “Street Artists in Action” photo-project (if not just type www.urbanart-photography.eu into your browser!) also know that my focus is not just on the artwork itself but on the artist and the flair around… ...

Jaybo Live Painting, Soto Berlin

Jaybo Live Painting, Soto Berlin

A lot of reknown urban artist, like Herakut, El Mac, Augustine Kofie and Remi/Rough already painted live in Jaybo’s Project Room in Berlin. Now, the master himself invited to watch him paint at the Soto Berlin shop. He painted simultaneously three artworks in front of an audience. Unfortunately I missed this event, so I have no new “Urban Artist in Action” shots for you… Nevertheless, Jaybo’s live painting was recorded and for that reason there is this really nice short video online. Have fun watching the master painting! ...

Urban Art Censorship

Urban Art Censorship

Political Street Art | Right, it’s not a new topic but today I want to write down some of my thoughts about censorship in the urban arts. The reason for that decision was first the fact that the dollar-coffin mural by Blu was painted over just a couple of hours after it was completed, because of objections by a museum’s director. Second, it’s because of the fact that we have the ARTAQ Urban Art Awards in town, which is somehow supported by the Reporters Without Borders. ...

Urban Lines: Art of Popof

Urban Lines: Art of Popof

Urban Painting | Just minutes ago I stumbled upon the fantastic murals - or more general urban paintings - by Paris-based urban artist Popof. Until now I’d never heard about the Moscow-born son of an Russian journalist and dissident, who came in contact with graffiti in 1989 and found his way to the French capital. But I have to say when I saw his latest project called “Sillons” (English furrows) first, I was impressed. These abstract urban lines he creates are so simple, but the effect is awesome! ...

London Graffiti: Titi Freak in Action

Graffiti Artist in Action | Do you remember all the urban artists like Herakut or Ben Eine who did live paintings as a part of the Moniker Art Fair earlier this year? Another famous artist who painted at Village Underground was Hamilton Yokota aka Titi Freak! While the São Paulo-born graffiti artist created a colorful mural on one of these nice brick walls in East London, I took some photos of him in action. Yesterday I had some time and uploaded them to my urban art photography blog, so you are now able to type in the letters www.urbanart-photography.eu into your web browser, to take a look at the Titi Freak photos and to give me some feedback. ...

Light-Painting in Kazakhstan

Light-Painting in Kazakhstan

Light Art | You know, I really like light artworks, because of their instability. After these beautiful light art performance photos I have again some light art today. Marko from France recently informed me about his amazing light-paintings he did earlier this year in Kazakhstan. He combines nice light patterns and typography influences, which looks really great. I hope to see some more of his work in the near future. What do you think? If you like these photos, go to Marko’s website and take a look at his other works! ...
