Evol’s New Stencil City

Evol’s New Stencil City

Do you remember that brilliant miniature stencil art city, stencil artist Evol created in Dresden in 2009? That was awesome, right, but now he created another, new stencil city in Norway! Evol’s new stencil artworks in the streets of Stavanger are part of this years Nuart Festival and are my personal highlight of that urban art event, because they buck the trend to go big (see Dotmaster) and even bigger (see Blu) and integrate already existing graffiti tags. ...

Urban Landscapes: Dan Kitchener Graffiti

Urban Landscapes: Dan Kitchener Graffiti

Here is a photo-series of another London-based graffiti artist: Dan Kitchener was already in action, when I accidentally met him at Great Eastern Street in Shoreditch some days ago. He was going to spray-paint a much larger version of his Urban Landscapes and finished the large-scale and more or less greyscale piece after six or seven hours of work… Those of you who want to see more nice photos of that pure graffiti action, have to take a look on my new “Street Artists in Action” project over there on Urban Art Photography! ...

Nychos’ Graffiti Show Photos

Nychos’ Graffiti Show Photos

Nychos’ graffiti horror show, which opened yesterday at Pure Evil Gallery in London, is a great success. A lot of people joined the opening (yes, some these crazy hipsters were there, too!) and marvelled at these gorgeous comic-style paintings, drawings and graffiti. Some were really scared by the horrifying scenes, brilliant! The Austrian Illustrator and Graffiti artist NYCHOS, who is mainly known for his prolific street art concept the Rabbit Eye Movement, is set to rock the foundations of the London establishment, combining his original comic styling with heavy metal attitude. Slovenian Tape Art

Slovenian Tape Art

You know, I have a weakness for tape art and although it seems to be something like a part of a new ad-campaign (unfortunately I’m not able to understand Slovenian…), it’s rather interesting to see what these Slovenian artists, including Kitsch Nitsch, Fejzo, Jurij Lozič, Tilen Sepič and others did with some shopping carts full of tape… …most interesting about the videos is, that they show the flexible possibilities of tape as a tool for artists. It allows to more or less easily create simple as well as quite complex abstract patterns, installations, reduced respectively simplified images and so forth… ...

SPQR - Monochrome Stencil Art

SPQR - Monochrome Stencil Art

In addition to that fantastic graffiti horror show by Nychos, there will be another interesting urban art exhibition tomorrow in London: British stencil artist SPQR will open his “Monochromatic Shades” stencil art show at Signal Gallery, exploring the art of protest, brainwashed media and the evils of society. SPQR is an artist from the West of England whose work has the ability to take the challenge of Banksy head on and produce a body of mostly stencil based artwork which has it’s own brand of ‘humour through protest’. Unlike Banksy, he has not been interested in developing hype and PR frenzy. In fact, he has actively avoided ‘selling out’ to the more commercial and cynical end of the Street Art movement. Biggest Marker Worldwide?!

Biggest Marker Worldwide?!

WTF?!, was the first I thought, when I saw that jumbo size marker - And when I say jumbo, I mean ultra-jumbo, because this marker, an oversized staunch white tube by Nugget, is probably the biggest marker worldwide and was created by the Everfresh collective from Australia. The group known as Everfresh creates works which fuse intense colour, intricate line work, iconic characters and visual narratives, using the most diverse street art and graffiti techniques. The Everfresh crew are the key players that continue to shape Melbourne’s dynamic and prolific street-art scene. (everfreshstudio.com) ...
