15 Years Street Art: Specter Interview

15 Years Street Art: Specter Interview

Brooklyn-based urban artist Specter has been doing street art for over fifteen years now. Nevertheless his different art projects like shopping cart sculptures, gentrification billboards, cardboard gates, brickwork paintings and others are still up-to-date and every time very special and unique interventions in the public space. His concepts and ideas range from politically installations to beautiful paste-ups, stencil artworks and paintings. Because of his recent exhibition at Pure Evil Gallery in London, my friend RJ “thought it would be the perfect time to ask Specter a few questions.” And so he did… ...

Augustine Kofie, Artist Profile

Augustine Kofie, Artist Profile

Almost two month ago, Los Angeles-based mural artist Augustine Kofie visited Berlin for a live-painting at Jaybo aka Monk’s Project Room. Kofie, who was born 1973, is internationally well-known for his amazing technically skills, he uses to create fantastic abstract paintings. Although his artworks only consist of simple geometrically shapes - exact lines and circles - and smooth colors, they seem to be rather complex and elegant. “The Qualities of Light” published an impressive artist profile about Augustine Kofie, in which he talks about his hidden preferences for collecting old things, his inspirational sources and first love, illustration. In addition he shows his studio and gives some insights into his sketching books, etc. ...

In addition to the exclusive prints by famous graffiti artist Roa, I was able to watch Bristol-based urban artist, street art veteran, graphic designer and illustrator Mr. Jago live-painting at the VNA release party at Pure Evil gallery. Jago is internationally well-know for its marvel-influenced, often abstract and chaotic style. Roa Graffiti Prints - Out Now!

Roa Graffiti Prints - Out Now!

Last Thursday the new, twelves issue of the fantastic VNA magazine was released at the Pure Evil Gallery in London. In addition to having some too much beer and talking to some nice guys, I was able to take some closer looks at the first Roa prints… Roa has been on the top of our hit list for a while now, so it was a real blessing when he came through London and this dream cover could actually come about. Three days of shooting Roa painting was still not enough and we could have easily sat up on that roof watching him paint for quite a few more. (Team VNA, Issue 12) ...

Pure Evil: Specter in London!

For a few days, the interesting UK debut solo-show by Brooklyn-based urban artist Specter is running at famous Pure Evil Gallery. Stencil Art London - C215

Stencil Art London - C215

Today I visited the amazing stencil art exhibition by French stencil artist C215 in London’s Signal Gallery! Although photos say generally more than words, I want to tell you that C215 also did some really nice and colorful artwork outside on the streets. So if you’re also currently in London, walk down the streets nearby the gallery! C215 has made a name for himself internationally as a street artist, second to none. For the past 5 years, he has been taking himself across the world, to major cities and small towns and ‘decorating’ their street walls with his own special brand of beautiful and intricate stencil artwork. His approach has always been to get involved with the street and get the inhabitants to enjoy and appreciate his contribution to their environment. (Signal Gallery) ...

Today I received a nice e-mail by Spanish street artist Rallito X, who asked me for publishing his latest street painting artworks on Urban Artcore. Before I will do that I will introduce you to Rallitox and especially his crazy urban monster art by quoting Andrea García Santana, who wrote… These characters are a reflection of what has been the theme of this artist’s work throughout his career: media manipulation, the attitude of an alienated society. ...
