Street Art Documentary - No Art No Street

Street Art Documentary - No Art No Street

Today I noticed, that there’s currently a new street art documentary called “No Art No Street” in production. Seems to be really interesting also because of the corresponding artists like Klub7, 44flavours, Danny Gretsher and Stör. No Art No Street, a 52-minute documentary is the fourth film in the documentary series Dasein Projekt. It is a street art documentary that focuses on walls as a painting, and the way they create themselves as such, and evolve between urban micro-interventions and the exchange between artists - artists who are regularly brought to collaboration through their common medium: these walls that unite them all. Wooster Collective in Berlin

Wooster Collective in Berlin

A must for all urban art lovers and street art enthusiasts is the big Wooster Collective meet-up in Berlin this Saturday! As Marc and Sara Schiller mentioned, it will be a interesting meet and greet of “a terrific group of artists, designers, and art fans”… Although I can’t imagine that anyone doesn’t know the New York-based Wooster Collective, here are some lines about them: The Wooster Collective (Wooster is a street in the Soho section of New York City) was founded in 2001. This site is dedicated to showcasing and celebrating ephemeral art placed on streets in cities around the world. (Wooster Collective) ...

Urban Art Sharing - Papergirl #5

Urban Art Sharing - Papergirl #5

Some days ago, I informed you about that amazing upcoming art project “Papergirl”, which will be held for the fifth time in Berlin. Its basic idea is to bring art into the public space in a different way than usual. Therefore, the activists and their helpers will pack a huge count of paper art rolls which will be shared in the public space after showing all participating artworks in one big exhibition. ...

Graffiti Buffing in Gallery?!

Graffiti Buffing in Gallery?!

What a great idea! As a part of the Creative Sydney festival, which was a series of free public art events, held from 5 to 13 June at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Circular Quay in Sydney, a graffiti live-buffing took place. In the center of attention was a nice graffiti mural, created by the graffiti artists Beastman, Max Berry, Numskull, Phibs and Roach… The mural was painted prior to the event and then buffed by Sydney Council during the event…to the surprise of the crowd who were expecting live art. It seems like this was a demonstration of not only the quality of Sydney/ Australia’s street and graffiti artists, but also a protest against Sydney Councils stance on public art. (verynearlyalmost.com) In my opinion this was a great action and a alternative protest, catching the attention of the media. What do you say? ...

Herakut Exhibition Photos

Herakut Exhibition Photos

As mentioned before, Herakut’s dirty fine graffiti show called “Happy Doubt-Day” opened four days ago. Campbarbossa visited the show and now there are first impressions from the exhibition online. “Through the strength of their work, coupled with the demand for their style, herakut have moved beyond producing strictly “street art”, and are now regarded as some of the most exciting contemporary artists of our time. Yet they have maintained the respect of the street art community, and they reciprocate that respect by continuing to create with spray cans, even as their artistic sphere of operation has grown to include interior spaces.” (press-release) ...

ProjectRoom in London - Photos

As I told you some days ago, Jaybo’s “ProjectRoom” traveled to London to show the British how great live action painting events could be… Team VNA was in the house to see Remi Rough, Jaybo and Juice126 rock some live painting down at the Redbull music academy last night. Was good to see a huge variation in style and techniques being used… although the spray paint fumes inside did start to go to some peoples heads. (verynearlyalmost.com) ...

Urban Art Photo Contest 2010

Update: Here are the winners of the Urban Photo-Contest 2010… It’s amazing to see how well this urban art blog grows. I never thought about that success when I started the www.urbanartcore.eu project with that great urban photo contest in August 2009. About 220 people with about 700 photos joined the competition at that time… ...

FIFA World Cup Paintings - South Africa 2010

FIFA World Cup Paintings - South Africa 2010

Although I don’t have a big partiality for football - I like football, but I don’t like the patriotism - I know that the football world championship will start today in South Africa. Celebrating that multicultural football event, the US-American sports channel ESPN engaged South African artists (the Cape Town-based AM I Collective) to create 33 FIFA world cup artworks in the style of 80’s Ghanaian movie posters. Inspired by hand-painted African art found in the streets and townships across South Africa, and the entire African continent, the creative collective designed 32 motives for each participating country in the world cup and 1 for all nations. ...
