On March 27, 2010, twenty of Barcelona’s best street artists came together to paint six large murals to pay tribute to the quality, distinction and diversity of the Barcelona Scene. (artbrutbcn.org) Looks fantastic what they had created! Here are some impressions from their gallery: ...

Interaction Art: El Tono’s New Street Art

A short while ago, Spanish street artist El Tono did another smart urban art experiment, which brings the street into the gallery! The idea behind was, that people who past by that white wall, should scratch into its surface and create in this way a unique street artwork. And his plan worked! ...

Evol & Pisa73 - New Stencil Artworks

Two days ago, I was invited to visit the opening of the “Source/ Resource” group-exhibition at Wilde Gallery in Berlin. In addition to some works by contemporary artists like Antonio Santin and Awst&Walther they show new artworks by two of my favorite stencil artists, Evol and Pisa73! As always when I take a look at their very detailed and amazing artwork, I was really flashed, but also the artworks by Mirko Mielke, who presented a photo on concrete and a photo on a found wall, were very inspiring! ...

Urban Art Show: Keep Smiling, Loser!

Yesterday I visited the new group show at Superplan Gallery in Berlin-Friedrichshain. 22 artists from seven countries (No, sorry there are only artworks by 21 artists, one work is still in London, because of the ban on flying caused by that ash cloud from Island…) present their interpretation of the exhibition’s motto “Keep Smiling, Loser!”. It was a nice evening. Once again I was impressed by Pisa73’s stencil art skills and Pabo’s and Base23’s great visual style, but also the artworks of the other participating artists, including BastiBasti, Devoner, Dust, Geso, Grapheart, Ink-A-Zoid and others, were really interesting. Additionally it’s the first exhibition of N8 Van Dyke in Germany… ...

Street Art 3.0: Mentalgassi in Berlin

Street Art 3.0: Mentalgassi in Berlin

Yes, it’s a commercial work, but nevertheless it’s really amazing! The Berlin-based street art crew Mentalgassi did a nice job at the Alexanderplatz in the heart of Berlin. They created so-called “Flip-Images”, large-scale image-installations which make it possible for the public to see different images from different perspectives. Mentalgassi are well-known for their oversized paste-ups, showing expressive, crazy faces of their friends. In the past, they also experimented with concrete, stickers and X-films, self-sticking color transparencies, for the ticket validators on the Berlin subway-stations. ...

Urban Art Eye Candy #1

Today I waked up and the first I thought was: “Urban Art Eye Candy”! The reason for that flash of inspiration was that I thought long and hard for a new striking title for the “Urban Top Shots” category. For those of you who are new to Urban Artcore, in “Urban Top Shots” I present some of the best photographies of street art, graffiti, architecture and other urban impressions. The groundwork for my decisions is the Urbanartcore Flickr-group with its 440 members and about 6,100 photos from all over the world (Effective April 14th). ...
