Urban Wood Art: Is “Back to the Roots” Trend?

“Holz51” is a great name for that “back to basics” collaboration of the two well-known Berlin-based urban art and design collectives Klub7 and 44Flavours. Some days ago, the corresponding art exhibition opened at the Neurotitan Gallery in Berlin… 44Flavours as well as Klub7 are popular for their incomparable style and the alternative ways in creating their artworks. Their art is by and large unique in the German urban art scene, what makes it every time interesting to see what they created new… ...

“The Knot” - A Mobile Art-Platform?

Although I often visit gallery openings and exhibitions, it’s not primary because of the artworks! I like a lot more to just meet nice people and good friends, talk about new projects and more or less unknown artists and drink some beer. For me, art is a lot more interesting, when it’s in public space and not guarded by galleries or other institutions. That’s one reason why I like street and urban art and its urban contexts… ...

Graffiti Talk: Os Gêmeos Interview

There are many reason, which describe why in my opinion it is great to get to know as much as possible about the mostly unknown artists behind that often wonderful artworks on the streets, walls and trains in our cities. One reason is, that interviews give artists the chance to explain their artworks, their emotions and the history of their doings, what gives them the chance to make people understand and in the same way to bring their artworks in a public dialogue… ...

Turmkunst: News from the Art Monument?

Yesterday I had some time to visit the “Art Monument” (Turmkunst) tower again. There isn’t much to see yet, but Flying Förtress, who will paint the facade until April 15, has still some time to finish his work. Nevertheless I took some shots of the tower’s basket including Flying Förtress and the one new grounded tower facade. This weekend, I will go back and bring you some new impressions of the nice exhibition inside the fascinating tower and some photos of the facade updates. ...

Street Festival: Eurocultured in Manchester

Do you know “Eurocultured”? It’s a street festival with a lot of nice music and some of the most famous visual artists and performers from every corner of Europe, which is based in Manchester. I never had heard something about the “Eurocultured” street festival, but what I read now sounds very interesting: “We return for the seventh consecutive year to celebrate the diversity of European culture. Covering everything from traditional to current and cutting edge music. ...

Visual Aggression: Rero Interview

There are already some articles about French urban artists Rero and his “Image Negation” artworks, but recently, he agreed to answer some of my questions about himself, the intention behind his abandoned artworks and about the popularity of clear and simple typography artworks around the world. To cut a long story short, here is my first interview with one of my current favorite urban artists from Europe… uac: Although you are relatively unknown for the majority of the people, your urban artworks have become very popular recently. Turmkunst - The Exhibition

Yesterday, the graffiti event “Art Monument” (Turmkunst) started with a lot of hoopla in Berlin. As I mentioned, four of the most well-known urban artists, Honet, Flying Förtress, Sozyone and KR, will repaint with about 2,000 spray-cans the the 2,000m² facade of the old “Bierpinsel”. Inside the tower, artworks by KR, Dave Decat, Dave the Chimp, Form76, Flying Förtress, Honet, Mr. Nonski, Nils Kasiske, Olivier Kosta Théfaine, Poch, Sozyone, Stefan Strumbel and Keramik are shown in a unique “Turmkunst” exhibition.
