Release: Gaffa Urbanism Magazine

In October 2009 I informed you about the second edition, called “Gaffa-Urbanism”, of the urban magazine Spacemag by Hamburg based Spacedepartment. Now, the release date is fixed and I was able to cast an eye at the new edition! As you can read in the title, the whole issue is about the new “Gaffa-Urbanism” movement. For that reason, pacemag #2 includes articles about Japanese tape artist Shuetsu Sato, who tapes redirecting hints at the subway-stations in Tokyo and about Australian tape artist BUFFdiss, who is a real globetrotter and tapes great artworks in the urban landscape. ...

Urban Fine Art: MaClaim in Berlin

Urban Fine Art: MaClaim in Berlin

Do you know Maclaim? It’s an very interesting urban fine art collective consisting of the four famous artists Case, Tasso, Akut and Typism. They are internationally well-known for their fantastic mixture of photo-realistic graffiti and modern typography. The history begins in 1999, when Akut, Case and Rusk started common projects. During the first two years the trio mainly met up in Weimar/ Germany. It was Rusk who first made contact between Case and Akut on one side, and Tasso on the other. For Akut, Case and Tasso it was easy to work together and to complement each other, as they had already focused on photo-realistic spraying irrespectively of each other. (About Maclaim) ...

Growing up in Berlin the comic book enthusiast Gogoplata taught himself the craft of drawing early on. On the streets of Berlin he developed his skills as a graffiti artist for years while at the same time working as a professional cartoon designer and animator. (ATM) ...

Tape Artists against Winter!

Yesterday I met the Australian tape artist BUFFdiss. I was really happy that he had some time for a small session in one of Berlin’s most famous abandoned factories, the “Eisfabrik” in Mitte. If you are living in Berlin or if you have a foible for Berlin, you maybe know that the snow is actually thawing here. For that reason every wall we tried to tape was already wet… Any way BUFFdiss did a nice typo tape art piece and we drunk some beer and everything was fine, but I’m now on the search for some other tape artists around the world who will fight with us against the winter! ...

For weeks, new facts, info and backgrounds about Robbo vs. Banksy spooked through the urban art blogs around the world. While visiting London, Banksy repainted a historical graffiti wall and drew criticism on himself. Afterwards, the Robbo crew modified all in all four of Banksy’s street artworks.
