Alex Diamond: Curious Demon Circus in Barcelona?

Alex Diamond: Curious Demon Circus in Barcelona?

Alex Diamond has a crazy style. The comic-influenced drawings and paintings are floating around in Europe for some years. In 2009, he was part of the urban art project Artotale in Lueneburg and is in Barcelona for his current exhibition, called Demon Circus, right now. Today, I received an e-mail by Jörg from the Heliumcowboy Artspace including info about this nice video, which gives some impressions of the show, including an interesting stop-motion painting clip. ...

My Playground - Urban Space Movement

My Playground - Urban Space Movement

I already wrote one or two times about nice parkour and freerunning videos, but this time I will show you the great trailer of a grandiose film about these two kinds of movement in urban space. My Playground is the title of that documentary film, by Kaspar Astrup Schröder. It’s not one of these regular action-videos, but it has a deeper theoretically background… The film explores the way Parkour and Freerunning is changing the perception of urban space and how the space is changing the traceurs and freerunners. Mainly set in Copenhagen the film follows the making of the first dedicated parkour park in the world. Designed by the danish team, Team JiYo. The film also travels around the world to Japan, United States, United Kingdom, and China to explore the common understanding of exploring the urban space seen from a traceur and freerunners perspective. ...

Subversive Art - Skore183 in Munich

This is an important art event tip for everyone who will be in Munich next week! The self-proclaimed working class hero and urban artist Skore183 will exhibit new works about “Subversive”. “Skore183 grew up in a working-class family in Munich. Already at quite an early age he discovered art as a way of expressing his very own thoughts, ideas and concerns. Since the late 1990s Skore183 has been using the streets and walls of his surroundings as his canvasses. Rather soon, however, he lost interest in writing just his name and started to focus on the content of his artworks. ...

Urban Calligraphy: Next Level Tagging

44flavours Exhibition: Urban Touch?

Yesterday I visited the opening of the 44flavours art show at the 72h Gallery in Berlin. It was a good exhibition in a nice show-room, but although there were some really interesting repainted silk-screen prints, I somehow missed a certain touch… In addition, I think that the 44flavour guys should have had a bit more time to give their artworks the lacking something! Nevertheless the 72h concept seems to bear fruits - The exhibition was well-frequented and there were artworks sold already at the beginning. ...

Bathroom Graffiti - Art or Pastime?

In my opinion, you could identify a good bar or event location by its bathrooms. Not that I need to have a clean toilet - what I need are some dirty tags, sketches or slogans on the walls! And I think, that Mark Ferem thinks the same… Mark is the author of the first “Bathroom Graffiti” book, which presents on about 190 pages personal expressions inspired by privacy. *If you’ve ever used a public restroom, chances are you’ve read some bathroom graffiti, or at least noticed it. Often bawdy, funny and smart, sometimes illegible, it is a ubiquitous means of expression found across the world. ...
