Aerosol Fumes - Top Stencil Artists

Yippieh, 2010 will start with an extravagant street art show! The five most well-known Berlin-based stencil artists - Bohomaz, Czarnobyl, Emess, Evol and Pisa73 - will exhibit together in the Neurotitan Gallery. That very special and rare group-exhibition will be the first urban art highlight in the upcoming year. I’m so happy, ’cause for me stencil art is very important. My interests in street and urban art were stimulated by it and my first steps in being a part of the urban art scene were planning, cutting and spraying stencils. ...

Iemza - Abandoned Paintings

I love it to see paintings and other artworks at abandoned places like old factory sites or derelict ruins: The power and colorfulness of the artworks in contradistinction to the gray, grungy and lifeless buildings and walls. When I saw photos of Iemza’s abandoned paintings the first time, I was really astonished! The French artist creates fantastic abstract creatures, which bring back life to their brown, gray and dirty walls: ...

Total Rewall Photos

Total Rewall Photos

Some time ago, I wrote an article about the fantastic “Total Rewall” project in London, which connects graffiti, street art and photography in an public, urban context. “Total Rewall” started on Friday December 4th in the infamous Leake Street Tunnel, which was once the home of Banksy’s Cans Festival, with the claim “on collaboration, not only between the photographers organising the exhibition and taking of photos (of places graffers normally would not be able to work on) – but also with street artists themselves, a vital part of the cog.” ...

Live Underground - Urban Music

I love it to listen to the various sounds, songs and voices of the often talented musicians in the subway-stations or trains. In my opinion they are part of the urban culture as well as the subway graffities or the tags on the ticket automates! Mike Kobal recently published his first subway music sample video, which shows really talented people from New York! When I watched it the first time, I got very impressed and a bit jealous, because here in Berlin, I often see people playing a didgeridoo or a accordion, but I can’t remember ever having seen an entire band or a saxophonist… ...
