In August, I invited you to the urban art fair “Stroke.01”, which took place in Munich between October 29th and 31st. About 30 galleries presented a lot of great urban artists, like L’Atlas, Emess, Flying Fortress, Mizzo, Cope 2, Swoon, Pisa73, Klub7 and others and about 7,000 visitors and guests came to see their amazing, graffiti and street art inspired artworks! ...

Total Rewall - Graffiti & Photography

A very interesting concept of creative urban participation is the “Total Rewall” project, which connects photography and graffiti. About twenty photographers posted up giant photographs on the walls of the famous Leake Street tunnel in South London, which became open canvasses… “Total Rewall is bringing photography into the world of graffiti, by giving artists and creative types alike, for one whole week, a rare chance to work their magic on otherwise forbidden territory. ...

Urban Abstract

Urban Abstract is a very interesting journey across urban space. It’s an video artwork, which shows urban impressions in an very abstract way. “Born in Tokyo during 2009 this piece was created by the art director Jopsu Ramu from Musuta Ltd. (a multidisciplinary design agency based in Helsinki & Tokyo) and Shun Kawakami (Artless Inc) an artist and designer from Tokyo.” (creativesideblog.com) ...

Vitostreet - Urban Calendar 2010

First of all, I have to say sorry to all of you, who daily read my articles, for not posting in the last week, but the only two things I did in the last days, are sleeping and drinking tea. Yes, I have the flu, but it’s getting better and better… And now for something completely different - Do you know my friend Vito del Forte? He is a well known street art documentalist, who knows almost every interesting corner in Paris. ...

Conor Harrington Interview

In my opinion, he’s one of the most talented artist worldwide and his artworks are still impressing. Conor Harrington, born 1980 in Ireland, studied painting, art and design and developed a unique urban style over the years. This style combines elements of fine art painting with the hard, dripping and typographically-inspired lines of urban art. It’s so crazy as the titles he gives his artworks - for example Bang Bang, You Shot Me Down, The Cat Who Got The Cream or A Land of Botox and Mercs. ...

Powdered Skateboarders

Powdered Skateboarders

Ten skateboarders and a lot of powder - The idea for this short film is really extraordinary! Imaging, your skateboard and yourself are totally dusted with powder and you’re riding your board through a nice skate-park. The impressions for people around you must be great. The powder creates an unusual dust behind you after every move or jump and it seems that you disband yourself. The ten minutes film “Wizard Smoke” presents this very interesting impressions. The Salazar Productions crew filmed pro-skateboarders, like Bradley Sheppard, Alien, Nate Lacoste, Chris Connolly, Nate Roline and others and recorded for this reason the colorful clouds in their wake. ...

Tokyo & Yokohama by Night

Wow, this is a impressing time-lapse film - Andreas Doppelmayr shows parts of the two Japanese metropolises Tokyo and Yokohama from fantastic perspectives! “This video was filmed during a couple of nights in Tokyo and one evening in Yokohama. It begins with a few clips from/ of/ around the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building, continues with a short clip from the Akihabara electronics district, then a few shots of some construction work near Shibuya, some clips from Ginza, a shot of Shibuya, a few clips near the Imperial Palace, some stuff in the metro, and finishes off with a clip of the Yokohama Bay Bridge and skyline.” (A. Doppelmayr) ...

Textura - Valencia Street Art Book

I have really a lot of street art book here at home. I have artists collection books, like the “The Art of Rebellion” books by C100, some books about single artists, but the mass are street art books about specific cities. There are “Street Art in Berlin”, “Paris Street Art”, “City Language Berlin” and others. In this series another book recently joined. It’s entitled “Textura - Valencia Street Art”. Written by Luz A. Martín, the book describes the street art and graffiti culture of Spain’s 3rd largest city. On about 140 pages Martín placed beautiful photographs, documenting texts and seven interviews with well known street artists of Valencia. ...

ARTotale - The Art of Control

In early October, Lueneburg was visited by 35 world-renowned street artists, because of freshman students’ first week. The freshmen were ordered to hold document this event and the university charged another team with the documentation of the start days. During this time, “The Art of Control” was also made. It’s the only independent film that tries to show the ambivalence of the project: Street artists express their opinion about illegality and the difficulty of contract work and the university’s chairmanship comments specific planned art projects for the future. ...

Dave The Chimp’s Lucky Dip

British street artist and designer Dave The Chimp recently started a new sales game to make some fans of his artworks happy and to get some money for the cold month. Currently, I read about that “Lucky Dip” lottery and thought, that this playful way of art disposal has to be supported. It’s very interesting, because it’s a combination of lottery and sale… “If you’d like to get your hands on an original “Human Bein” painting, plus a signed copy of his book “Part of Rebellion 2: Dave the Chimp”, and some zines, all for just 35 euros (40 euros outside of Europe) then drop him an email and he’ll send you the instructions of how to play the Lucky Dip.” (hooked) ...
