Live-Painting: Kofie & El Mac
As mentioned yesterday, another live-painting took place at the Project Room by Jaybo aka Monk in Berlin. Two well-known artists, Augustine Kofie and El Mac, started painting in front of the crowd at 7pm and finished their artworks four hours later. It was gorgeous to watch them paint in their totally different styles and to be able to understand how they’re working.
The huge count of small details in Kofie’s artworks and that great shadow-handling by El Mac made me and my friend happy. For that reason, I want to make those of you happy, who had no time to come to that interesting art event by showing you some photos (More on Flickr!) I took while the live-painting.

Augustine Kofie Live-Painting
Today the time has come: Augustine Kofie will paint live at Jaybo’s project room in Berlin! After the away game in London some days ago, the project room will now open its doors in its familiar neighbourhood…
Since 36 years, the urban artist Augustine Kofie creates mural artworks and pieces in the streets of Los Angeles. Although his street artworks count among graffiti it’s something more - they conbine elements of cubism, futurism and pop art and create in that way an unique style of abstract lines and design. As the name of the upcoming live-painting describes, Kofie will paint one of his geometrically-inspired (he calls it “drafting style”) artworks.

Mode2 Live Painting Photos
As I mentioned some days ago, famous graffiti artist Mode2 painted live in Berlin yesterday! The outstanding artists created a great mural artwork at the “Jacki Terrasse” in Berlin and I was allowed to take some photos of the otherwise camera-shy artist and his doings…
It was really great to see how easily he painted that rough wall just with brushes. The new wall now shows a collection of different rawish characters and creates for that reason a very comfortable urban atmosphere. The great thing about Mode2 and his mural artwork is, that he painted everything without having any sketch on paper or some thing like that…I was really impressed!

Mode2 Live Painting
Mode2’s latest urban art series was about porn and nude people and I’m very curious to see whether he will also paint one of his amazing bold nude portraits this weekend at the “Jacki Terrasse” in Berlin…
Mode2, one of the founding members of the Chrome Angelz, has struck a bridge from traditional graffiti and cartoon-like characters to realistic human figures. For that reason, his latest artworks, combining graffiti-inspired sketches and contemporary drawing art, were part of the “Post Graffiti Art” called exhibition at the Lucas Carrieri Art Gallery in Berlin!

ProjectRoom in London - Photos
As I told you some days ago, Jaybo’s “ProjectRoom” traveled to London to show the British how great live action painting events could be…
Team VNA was in the house to see Remi Rough, Jaybo and Juice126 rock some live painting down at the Redbull music academy last night. Was good to see a huge variation in style and techniques being used… although the spray paint fumes inside did start to go to some peoples heads. (verynearlyalmost.com)

FIFA World Cup Paintings - South Africa 2010
Although I don’t have a big partiality for football - I like football, but I don’t like the patriotism - I know that the football world championship will start today in South Africa. Celebrating that multicultural football event, the US-American sports channel ESPN engaged South African artists (the Cape Town-based AM I Collective) to create 33 FIFA world cup artworks in the style of 80’s Ghanaian movie posters. Inspired by hand-painted African art found in the streets and townships across South Africa, and the entire African continent, the creative collective designed 32 motives for each participating country in the world cup and 1 for all nations.

Live-Paintings - Jaybo’s ProjectRoom
If you already had have a look at my photo-collection of the Herakut live-painting, you should know how great live-paintings are. One of the greatest or maybe the greatest art space for urban-inspired live-paintings and other creative things is the “ProjectRoom” project by Jaybo, also known as Monk.
One of the latest live-actions in the “ProjectRoom”, which is mainly based in Berlin, was the collaboration of Jaybo and Remi/Rough. By the way, also the kick-ass Herakut action took place there…

Urban Intervention Book - Dan Witz
Dan Witz is maybe one of the most powerful street artists on earth. Since the 70’s, the master of fine art and public interventions is active on the streets in New York and other US-American cities.
In 1979, he started his first large scale street art project by painting over 40 birds in lower Manhattan. In 1994, he wheat pasted about 75 black silkscreens hoodies and in did these brutal but also amazing Dark Doings installations.

1010 - Abstract Creatures Exhibition
I’m proud to announce the upcoming solo-exhibition by well-known street artist 1010 in Berlin, because I love his crazy minimalistic style! 1010 and of course his strange painted or silhouetted creatures are well-known in Germany and Europe - Recently he painted an amazing new artwork at the Eco Jam session in Szczecin.
Although the characters are reduced to their geometric and basic shapes, they seem to be alive - crying, eating, running or laughing, they are always in action…

Mural Art: Blu, Sam3 & Os Gêmeos in Lisbon
It’s an amazing huge painting, four of my favorite mural artists recently created in Lisbon! Os Gêmeos, whose graffiti art exhibition is still running, Blu, who was lately in Wroclaw and Sam3, whose new book was published several month ago, came together to paint the facade of two abandoned old houses in Lisbon’s city.
All four artists - for those of you who are new: Os Gêmeos are twins - are internationally well-known for their unique style, beautiful artworks and large-scale mural artworks. For this reason it’s just breathtaking to see them painting together. Additionally it is - like every time - incredible to see how they manage it to paint those huge artworks…
