Since he’s living in Berlin, Danish artist Jakob Tolstrup further develops his technique steadily and creates one or other new artwork… Born in 1983 in Denmark, Jakob started to draw in his childhood and hasn’t quit ever since. In the mid 90′s he got introduced to graffiti which had a big impact on his life and work. Today I’d like to introduce a graffiti-inspired artist to you, I recently discovered… Born in London and living in Berlin, Stephen Hiam experiments with spray-paint and chaos and creates in that way crazy abstract artworks. After constructing different drip machines from simple everyday objects, like tin cans, he recently got a Makita BBX7600 (a 4-stroke commercial duty engine) and transformed it into what I would call a semi-automatic paint-vomitter and what he calls an aerosol organsm! ...

For a few weeks I have a nice new contact over in London. Her name is Petra Valenti, she is a talented photographer (check out her latest works on tumblr!) and knows the local street art and graffiti scene quite well, for what reason she will be some kind of a roving reporter for Urbanartcore in future. The first of her photo-series I’d like to show you is the documentary of the new Big Fish Eat Small Fish mural by Italian painter and street artist Gionata Gesi aka Ozmo which was done during the last days! Again he used his well-known illustrative collage-style to create a new, astonishing painting. When I stumbled upon the huge new mural by Manolis Anastasakos and the Kretsis crew in Athens two days ago, I was highly impressed - and not just me! For example on Facebook, the Albrecht Dürer inspired 600m² (!) mural with the catchy name He, is praying for us, got about 370 likes within two days, for what reason I can’t ignore it anymore and have to post about the great upside down version of Dürer’s Praying Hands, Manolis and his friends created in the last days… ...

I just received an e-mail by well-known French urban artist Rero, who informed me about a ruthless initiative by the city of Paris, who plans to break down the beautiful La Jarry, an old, huge and crazy building near Paris, which is used by many artists as studio and exhibition space… To escape of this tragic end, several artists organised the exhibition-series Saving La Jarry, which also includes a work by Rero, who was invited to paint one big word on the huge facade: the crossed out letters PARADIGM! During the IBUg 2011 preparation week I got the chance to document Berlin-based urban artist and creative mastermind Danny Doom aka Desur aka Doctor Doom while creating some nice paintings using spray-cans and brushes… Danny Doom started with graffiti, got into painting and traditional design till he ended up mixing traditional and digital art. Worldwide well-known Spanish mural artist Sam3 recently painted a 15-story-tall mural during the Living Walls street art conference in the city of Atlanta and as my friend RJ already mentioned it’s probably the tallest mural worldwide… Yes, there are murals and even illegal graffiti that cover more square-footage, but in terms of height, this 15-story-tall mural has everything I can think of beat.
