Update: Here are the winners of the Urban Photo-Contest 2010… It’s amazing to see how well this urban art blog grows. A lot of graffiti and street art enthusiasts follow me on twitter (about 2.500), read the RSS feed (about 630) and comment or link back the posts. I never thought about that success when I started the www.urbanartcore.eu project with that great urban photo contest in August 2009. Last Saturday, the main action day against Mediaspree took place in Berlin. Mediaspree is a group of investors, which is in the act of building high office blocks and luxury apartments on the former free spaces in Berlin’s city. A broad alliance of left-winged people, local residents, students and other Mediaspree antagonists, brought their protest with two big demonstrations, free space occupations and parties to the street. I joined the mass-demonstration through Kreuzberg and took among other things some shots of the occupation of an waste, private piece of ground on the banks of the spree. I guess there will be some other free space actions around the Spree in the near future… ...

After the typography-inspired bookshelf by Pieter de Leeuw and the great “Type the Sky” photos by Lisa Rienermann I will show you another alternative typography project, which is called Google Maps Typography… Creative director Rhett Dashwood, who is interested in creative media, including interactive, animation, branding, print, film making and digital art, was a bit bored in October 2008 and started for this reason to search for some letter-like landmarks and buildings in Google Maps.
