Photography documentation captures street art, graffiti, and urban art imagery, showcasing diverse styles, techniques, locations, and the raw creative energy of contemporary urban expressions.
Photography serves as the essential medium for documenting and preserving the ephemeral nature of street art, graffiti, and urban art across global cities. Beyond mere documentation, urban art photography has developed into its own artistic discipline, exploring creative angles, lighting techniques, and framing choices that enhance the impact of the original artworks.
Through exhibitions, publications, and digital platforms, photographers play a vital role in bringing street art to audiences who cannot experience these works firsthand, democratizing access to urban creativity while honoring the artists’ original intentions and contexts.
Backjumps #4 - Photos
As I told you yesterday, the next version of legendary urban art exhibition project “Backjumps”, started in Berlin.
Backjumps #4 presents different unusual artworks and projects by the seven Berlin-based urban artists Pigenius Cave, Brad Downey, RZM (Ritsche Koch/Zasd/Christian Marien), Matthias Wermke and Mischa Leinkauf. The exhibition shows, in which ways it is possible to explore and use the urban landscape.
Pigenius Cave explores with a homemade “Tricycle” the canals and underground access ways of the city. Brad Downey presents artworks, which demonstrate his sculptural as well as his performative dealing with the city. RZM deals with the world of sound, architecture and texture of Berlin locations. And Matthias Wermke and Misha Leinkauf show a video installation, in which they move through the underground and suburban rail network of Berlin.

Nomad - Classical Painting & Street Art
Yesterday, one of Berlin’s most famous urban artists Nomad opened his recent exhibition “Rainbowcoloured Tears of a Clown” at the Circleculture Gallery.
“Circleculture Gallery is pleased to announce its first solo exhibition featuring the artist Nomad. As an original street artist, he developed his expressional variants conceptually and technically through interactive projects in interior and exterior spaces: combining writing and street art with poetry and classical painting.
In this context, we become acquainted with Nomad’s street art in the gallery as part of a holistic work of art. The works shown move between humour, satire and human drama. At the centre is the clown or fool, who mirrors the ambiguity of human existence.” (press release)

Black on White, Style needs no Color
Bigger, more colorful and even more detailed - This is seemingly a actual trend in the graffiti scene. In my opinion it’s to much. For me, a piece is a good one when it’s unique and has a attractive typographic character - Too many colors overlay the rather style…
Quite similarly think the people from “Style needs no color”. They released their book “Black on White” with a big live painting (only in black and white) some days ago! Over 20 graffiti artists, including 3Steps, Faker,Mr.Cybe, Panik, Pesk, Ritak and Tabu, painted at the hall of fame in Koblenz.

New Urban Interventions by SpY
Since the mid-80s, shortly after he had worked himself up to the showcase graffiti artist of Spain, Madrid-based writer Spy began to deal with other forms of artistic communication in public space. Since then, Spy is titled as a second Banksy, because of the extreme innovation and audacity of his artworks. He therefore enjoys a heightened public interest, not only in Spain but also in Europe and around the world.

Berlin Advertising Takeover
My friend Martin from the online platform for contemporary urban art “LetterXIII” asked me to post some infos and photos about the urban art group-exhibition and advertising takeover “Nothing but…”, which took place in Berlin some days ago.
About 20 different urban artists took over so called citylight-posters with their artworks between Mitte and Neukölln.
Involved on this wonderful, temporary adbusting action were for example Evol, Bronco, Brad Downey, Filippo Minelli, Akim, Laurent Basset and many more!
