Graffiti Exhibition | One of my favorite graffiti crews in Europe is - since I met some of them at the Meeting of Styles in London - the French Da Mental Vaporz (DMV) collective including the famous graffiti artists Dran, Bom-K, Brusk, Sowat, Gris, Jaw, Blo (who recently had an exhibition in Berlin), Kan and Iso. Now this marvellous crew is going to reunite for an exclusive group-exhibition at the GHP in Toulouse… After 5 years of hard work the guys in GHP are closing the venue. London-based stencil artist Fin DAC, who recently visited Berlin to create some astonishing stencil artworks, will commemorate Jimi Hendrix on the 40th anniversary of his death tomorrow. At Red Bull Studios in London, Fin will release his 16-colour, hand finished “Hendrix: Still Reigning, Still Dreaming” print and complete one of the four unique original pieces on wood, copper, metal and a newspaper collage canvas. Fin DAC’s striking image of Hendrix possesses a bold and edgy quality, yet also offers a harmonising ambience, illuminated by the kaleidoscopic protrusion of colour. Seventy hand finished limited edition prints and nine special edition prints with extra hand finishing and layers will be available on the night, before their official release on September 18. The Berlin-based Redspective label is currently showing amazing typography posters and prints by the two urban and typography artists Otto Baum (Klub7) and Sven Neitzel (Nepomuk)! Dot per Dot is a collaborative project between Otto Baum and Sven Neitzel focusing on blurring the border between illustration and graphic de sign. The two designers use self-made type faces and playful drawings in order to attempt to shift these borders. It was the aim of the two designers to interpret old gra phic forms and create a new approach to design. The exhibtion will also include older works from the artists past 2 years. As you maybe noticed, Brooklyn’s infamous collagist and urban artist Bäst is in London for his first solo exhibition called “Botulism”! Bäst, who has been part of the international street art scene for the last ten years, presents in that show new artworks, especially screen-printings, which are inspired by the early punk flyers of London and New York. Showing 21st Century icons and imagery from all types of media. The crazy thing about his very successful screen-printings is, that they don’t look like a screen-printing, but like real collages! I was highly impressed by that fact, the joke within his artworks and the small talk I had with him. ...

Last Thursday the new, twelves issue of the fantastic VNA magazine was released at the Pure Evil Gallery in London. In addition to having some too much beer and talking to some nice guys, I was able to take some closer looks at the first Roa prints… Roa has been on the top of our hit list for a while now, so it was a real blessing when he came through London and this dream cover could actually come about. Three days of shooting Roa painting was still not enough and we could have easily sat up on that roof watching him paint for quite a few more. (Team VNA, Issue 12) ...

One of the top urban art photographers Ian Cox published some photos of the “Deluxx Fluxx Arcade 2010” exhibition by Faile and Bast at Lazarides Gallery Greek Street. “The two floors of Lazarides Greek Street will be taken over for a truly experiential exhibition. Faile and Bast’s signature elements will resound throughout the gallery, creating an explosive installation.
