Doomessenz - Massive Canvas Collaboration

Last week, I followed Berlin-based Quintessenz Creation crew and Danny Doom to their exhibition setup at OZM Gallery in the creative heart of Hamburg city! Entitled …think of all the stories we could have told, the Danny Doom meets Quintessenz show presents a large number of their own canvas works including screen prints, paintings and experimental technique mashups as well as massive canvas collaboration works, combining all their different styles, tastes and color-preferences. This interesting mixture makes the art show a nice starting point for those who want to see the latest urban-inspired art trends from Berlin! ...

Berlin gets Colorful - Quintessenz Extinguisher Action

Last Friday, Berlin-based Quintessenz Creation crew (don’t forget their upcoming exhibition together with Danny Doom in Hamburg!) was invited by a somehow popular sporting goods manufacturer to paint a mural at Sage Club in Mitte, which is why Berlin now has another colorful facade… Using nothing more than liters and liters of paint together with several alienated fire extinguishers, the Quintessenz boys bombarded the prepared wall (they previously painted a shoe silhouette using latex-paint) and created in that way meters long drips in different colors which now are visible from long distance. I for one took cover from the paint-rain and tried to take some photos from the roof, documenting the action. ...

Quintessenz Creation feat. Danny Doom

Next month, the popular Berlin-based Quintessenz Creation crew (remember their great stop-motion videos True Colors or Color my Kingdom?) and well-known painter Danny Doom (here some shots of his latest show) will together have an exhibition at OZM Gallery Hamburg, presenting amazing collaboration artworks, bringing together the colorful, comic-like characters by Doom and the style-diversity and print-affinity of Quintessenz… Their both foibles for experimental works, breaking borders of plain canvas paintings and their graffiti backgrounds are superb preconditions for an exciting show with striking artworks of different size and medium. I’m really looking forward to this show and will try to come to Hamburg for the opening, as they’re not just great artists but also good friends of mine! ...

Quintessenz Creation: Color my Kingdom

Berlin-based Quintessenz Creation crew is at least well-known in Germany for their spectacular stop motion videos showing color in motion and other urban art, especially when it’s about the power of true color! During this year’s IBUg street art festival the crew produced a new stop motion film, which went online just a few minutes ago! This time it’s a mix of stop motion and live sequences… Quintessenz is an artists collective based on a core group of former students from Hildesheim, Germany who founded the crew back in 2007. With the help of their films, they try to discover the power of color in abandoned areas and to analyze the effect of color on the environment what leads them to new, impressing paint-experiments…as you can see again is this new film! Stattmarkt: Urban Art X-Mas Market

Yes, it’s X-mas again and for that reason, Ironside and Berlin’s Stattbad are going to open the pools for the Stattmarkt, this year’s urban art X-mas market in Berlin! With its diverse concept, this market contains not just the usual design, fashion, jewelry, merchandise, comic, literature and food stuff, but also artwork by independent artists, gallery representatives, photographers, graphic artists and, and that’s the clue, creative entertainment including video-works by Quintessenz crew, live DJ’s during the day and live paintings by Berlin-based urban artists Irgh, Karl Addison and James Bullough! ...

I well remember that amazing stop motion film “True Colors” by Tomislav Topic about the power of pure color and creative ideas. In about five minutes, which were recorded in almost four month, he and his crew brought color to life and created in that way an urban art showpiece project.
