Stencil art enables rapid reproduction of detailed imagery in street art, combining precision design with efficient application for powerful urban messaging.
Stencil art represents one of the most technically sophisticated and politically effective forms of street art, enabling artists to create detailed, reproducible imagery while maintaining the speed necessary for urban interventions. This technique involves cutting designs into materials like cardboard, plastic, or metal, then applying paint through the openings to create precise, consistent images on various surfaces.
Stenciling allows complex imagery to be reproduced quickly across multiple locations, making it ideal for political messaging, social commentary, and artistic campaigns.

Of course I visited that art show and took a closer took to the four fantastic, large-scale and unique spray-paintings on wood, newspaper, copper and iron. Take a look at my photos, I think there are no more words needed…

SPQR - Monochrome Stencil Art
In addition to that fantastic graffiti horror show by Nychos, there will be another interesting urban art exhibition tomorrow in London: British stencil artist SPQR will open his “Monochromatic Shades” stencil art show at Signal Gallery, exploring the art of protest, brainwashed media and the evils of society.
SPQR is an artist from the West of England whose work has the ability to take the challenge of Banksy head on and produce a body of mostly stencil based artwork which has it’s own brand of ‘humour through protest’. Unlike Banksy, he has not been interested in developing hype and PR frenzy. In fact, he has actively avoided ‘selling out’ to the more commercial and cynical end of the Street Art movement. When I first saw the book I thought “Oh, aha, another of these stencil art documentary books…” but when I took a closer look, I found these ready stencils and was dizzy. “The Street Art Stencil Book” includes articles about artists like Pure Evil, Blek Le Rat, XOOOOX, C215, M-City and others and, as I already said, an original stencil of each of them:

Buenos Aires Street Art
This Thursday, London’s Pure Evil Gallery will open its doors for a fantastic Buenos Aires street art exhibition presented by “Graffitimundo”! It’s the first collective exhibition of street artworks from Buenos Aires in London and will in addition to artworks by Tec, Chu and Defi, present those by Buenos Aires Stencil, Malatesta, Orilo and Jaz…
Buenos Aires has one of the most active and unusual street art scenes in the world. An economic crash in 2001 acted as a catalyst for a generation of young artists to start painting in the streets. Public acceptance of street art nurtured the scene, giving artists the freedom to experiment at a scale and level of complexity unseen in other cities. Ggraffitimundo was set up to promote this extraordinary scene, and supports the artists through exhibitions, events, tours and an online shop & gallery. (Pure Evil Gallery)

Making-Of: Evol Stencil Art
Yesterday, I was asked whether I know a video of famous stencil artist Evol creating one of his proper stencil artworks. And yes, it came into my mind that I posted such an video about an year ago on an other blog!
For me, the most impressing thing about Evol’s stencil artworks are the details. It’s amazing with which precision he forms interesting urban scenes by using several stencil layers. Sometimes it’s impossible to imagine how he did it and that’s why this video is that great. Now you are able to get an idea about the complex development process!

Stencil Art London - C215
Today I visited the amazing stencil art exhibition by French stencil artist C215 in London’s Signal Gallery!
Although photos say generally more than words, I want to tell you that C215 also did some really nice and colorful artwork outside on the streets. So if you’re also currently in London, walk down the streets nearby the gallery!
C215 has made a name for himself internationally as a street artist, second to none. For the past 5 years, he has been taking himself across the world, to major cities and small towns and ‘decorating’ their street walls with his own special brand of beautiful and intricate stencil artwork. His approach has always been to get involved with the street and get the inhabitants to enjoy and appreciate his contribution to their environment. (Signal Gallery)

Fine Stencil Art: C215’s Midnight Dreams
For one week now, the “Midnight Dreams” stencil exhibition by French urban artist C215 is running in London’s Signal Gallery and it seems to be a great one! C215, whose latest exhibition took place in Paris, is well-known for his amazing, highly detailed stencil artworks he put up around the world. By the way, some month ago he gave me an nice interview…
Midnight Dreams will be C215’s second solo show with us at Signal. In the show, the artist is moving away from reproducing works whose origins are on the street. He is developing a style that has more fantasy and independent imaginative force. Inspired by colourful memories from his childhood in Orleans, the work that will be shown will retain the fabulous use of intricate stencil work, with a freshness, lightness of touch and brilliant use of colour, that has not been appropriate in his street work to date.
