Sticker Art: A Guide to Urban Decals & Street Art

The German Klebstoff magazine is a sticker magazine which consists only of stickers. Yes, it’s a bit crazy, but very successful! After the first issue with its 1000 copies was sold out after only four weeks, the Sticker Mag crew did another one: The second issue contains on 46 pages more than 100 stickers by 24 more or less famous urban sticker artists, including Klub7, Dan Witz, xXcrew, Eko, 1010, and others… ...

Yesterday, I visited Hamburg to fetch some new sneakers and to meet my friend Jörg from the Heliumcowboys Artspace. I spend the whole day walking through the streets, photographing nice street art… My personal feeling is, that Hamburg is the German capital of sticker art. There are googols of different stickers by famous urban artists like Flying Förtress, CUPK and The London Police as well as an uncountable number of other great stickers by local artists! ...

Two days ago, the new Urban Artcore sticker pack arrived! Now I have about 1,000 roundly stickers, which promote urbanartcore.eu as “Your daily source for urban art, graffiti and other street art”! This Thursday, the sticker-museum Hatch, will start its second “Oversized & Underpriced” charity sticker exhibition! In contrast to the first show in 2008, when huge customized “Hello My Name Is” stickers were presented, the second show is about the classical German “Päckchen” stickers, which are already used by a lot of people to paint on them. For years, Obey aka Shepard Fairey is a well-respected artist on the streets around the globe. Even though it’s been a while ago that he pasted his well-known Obey posters and stickers, they can be found on and off the streets till now - although there are only a few.
