Although I kept my fingers crossed for the Netherlands yesterday, I had the idea to celebrate the Spanish football team as the new world champion by collecting a list of awesome graffiti and street artists from Spain. Do you remember that great mural art event which took place in Lisbon two weeks ago? Blu, Sam3 and Os Gêmeos painted two abandoned houses in the city of the Portuguese capital! Spanish street artist Sam3 just released the time-lapse video which was created while he painted his huge “La Noche” mural artwork. In addition to my sympathy for the street artworks by Sam3, it’s really interesting for me to see the development process of large-scale, kick-ass artworks like that one. One of my favorite urban artists, the Bologna-based painter Blu is known for his large-scale, surreal but always meaningful pictures in the public space. Ha! Yesterday, I suspected, that “it seems to be mural art time for a lot of urban artists”, because so many beautiful and huge mural artworks spring up around the globe. Today I feel confirmed, because of that great new mural artwork, the Italian street art duo Sten & Lex recently created in Lyon, France. Sten and Lex are very popular for their more or less unique styled large-scale prints, hand-drawings and stencil artworks, they left in a huge number of cities. Recently, a few weeks ago they beautified Rome with a two mixed poster mural showing famous football player Totti and a wolf - looks impressive! ...

It seems to be mural art time for a lot of urban artists round the world. Two month ago, WK Interact created a nice mural art in New York, short time later the mural art festival “Breakin’ The Wall” started in Wroclaw, three weeks ago El Bocho painted a nice one in Berlin, recently Blu, Sam3 and Os Gêmeos painted together in Lisbon and now Steve Locatelli created another huge mural artwork in Antwerp! ...

Attention graffiti lovers around the world - The famous graffiti-twins from Os Gemeos, Otávio and Gustavo will have their newest exhibition in Lisbon, called Pra quem mora lá, o céu é lá, which means something like For those who live there, the sky is there! The show, which will start tomorrow evening at the Museu Berardo in the Portuguese capital, seems to become an well-attended international graffiti event. My friend Target even finds that the Os Gêmeos exhibition will be “one of the biggest events of the year not only for any graffiti enthusiast, but for any art lover.” ...

The Exhibition of Murals in the old city of Wroclaw is the fourth stage of the Breaking The Wall project. My first thought when I read the lineup of participating artists, including Blu, Erica Il Cane, SickBoy, Zosen, and others, was: That will be fuckin’ great!. Their murals will reflect on the identity and existence of the post-1989 generation, as well as the celebrated anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. Some days ago, twenty street and graffiti artists from Barcelona, including Boris Hoppek, Aryz and Ripo, painted six walls. This graffiti festival was called Art Brut and should give a tribute to the Barcelona-based graffiti scene. On March 27, 2010, twenty of Barcelona’s best street artists came together to paint six large murals to pay tribute to the quality, distinction and diversity of the Barcelona Scene. A short while ago, Spanish street artist El Tono did another smart urban art experiment, which brings the street into the gallery! The guy, who is famous worldwide for his abstract street paintings, installed whitewashed glass panels in the city of Coruña. The idea behind was, that people who past by that white wall, should scratch into its surface and create in this way a unique street artwork. And his plan worked! ...
