Street Art Documentary - No Art No Street
Today I noticed, that there’s currently a new street art documentary called “No Art No Street” in production. Seems to be really interesting also because of the corresponding artists like Klub7, 44flavours, Danny Gretsher and Stör.
No Art No Street, a 52-minute documentary is the fourth film in the documentary series Dasein Projekt. It is a street art documentary that focuses on walls as a painting, and the way they create themselves as such, and evolve between urban micro-interventions and the exchange between artists - artists who are regularly brought to collaboration through their common medium: these walls that unite them all. Sam3 Mural Art Time-lapse
Do you remember that great mural art event which took place in Lisbon two weeks ago? Blu, Sam3 and Os Gêmeos painted two abandoned houses in the city of the Portuguese capital!
Spanish street artist Sam3 just released the time-lapse video which was created while he painted his huge “La Noche” mural artwork.
In addition to my sympathy for the street artworks by Sam3, it’s really interesting for me to see the development process of large-scale, kick-ass artworks like that one. Big paintings have just their attractions, right?

Mural Art: Madrid is Blu!
One of my favorite urban artists, the Bologna-based painter Blu is known for his large-scale, surreal but always meaningful pictures in the public space. With his most recent mural artwork in Madrid he becomes part of the mural art trend I identified in the last days…If you don’t know what I mean, check out the new mural artworks in Lyon, Antwerp, Lisbon and Wroclaw!
His very playful and comic-style pieces often carry a political or moral statement, yet without being patronising. (about Blu)

Mural Art: Sten & Lex Big in Europe
Ha! Yesterday, I suspected, that “it seems to be mural art time for a lot of urban artists”, because so many beautiful and huge mural artworks spring up around the globe. Today I feel confirmed, because of that great new mural artwork, the Italian street art duo Sten & Lex recently created in Lyon, France.
Sten and Lex are very popular for their more or less unique styled large-scale prints, hand-drawings and stencil artworks, they left in a huge number of cities. Recently, a few weeks ago they beautified Rome with a two mixed poster mural showing famous football player Totti and a wolf - looks impressive!

Huge Mural Art in Antwerp!
It seems to be mural art time for a lot of urban artists round the world. Two month ago, WK Interact created a nice mural art in New York, short time later the mural art festival “Breakin’ The Wall” started in Wroclaw, three weeks ago El Bocho painted a nice one in Berlin, recently Blu, Sam3 and Os Gêmeos painted together in Lisbon and now Steve Locatelli created another huge mural artwork in Antwerp!

Klone: Israeli Street Art in Berlin
Alien-like creatures waked up in the streets of Tel Aviv several years ago, when internationally known street artist Klone began to paste-up his extraterrestrial artworks. Now he’s in Berlin and placed some new colorful paper artworks.
Formerly known as graffiti artist Make, Klone started pasting hand-drawn paper characters, which should replace his tags and throw-ups, about 5 to ix years ago…
The predator characters developed after a long process, when I’ve been working with my oneline drawings, trying to define a character in one line and parralel I was working on series of more realistic paintings of real predators incorporating them into my streetwork, I wanted to create something new, something that might make people think a bit different, so i came up with charaters that combine the animal and human features, people got disturbed and eventually embraced the new and the weird species in the city. Mural Art: Blu, Sam3 & Os Gêmeos in Lisbon
It’s an amazing huge painting, four of my favorite mural artists recently created in Lisbon! Os Gêmeos, whose graffiti art exhibition is still running, Blu, who was lately in Wroclaw and Sam3, whose new book was published several month ago, came together to paint the facade of two abandoned old houses in Lisbon’s city.
All four artists - for those of you who are new: Os Gêmeos are twins - are internationally well-known for their unique style, beautiful artworks and large-scale mural artworks. For this reason it’s just breathtaking to see them painting together. Additionally it is - like every time - incredible to see how they manage it to paint those huge artworks…

Banksy Street Art: Only Advertising?
Some days ago, I asked what do you think “is the deeper meaning of Banksy’s Child Drawing Series? and got a nice answer by Ringo45…
Almost at the same time, the Globe And Mail newspaper from Toronto, which was one of Banksy’s traveling-stations, published an very interesting review of the Banksy street art by Toronto street artist Posterchild:
Q: As a street artist yourself, what are your feelings about Banksy being in Toronto? A: I would like to have seen Banksy visit Toronto for its own merits and not simply coming to promote his film. Should we feel honored that he’s decided to paint our walls or should we feel outraged that he’s come here … for self-promotion, for advertising? (Globe And Mail)

Support Street Art Conference!
Do you remember the Living Walls, The City Speaks urbanism and street art conference, which will take place in Atlanta this August? It’s a street art-influenced conference which wants to be a starting shot for a movement of people who want to recreate their cities self-determined…
The project will be divided into three components: a component devoted to public murals involving poster art, a lecture series which the Georgia Tech architecture department has agree to host for us, and a that of a gallery opening taking place at the Eyedrum. (about Living Walls)

Mural Art: El Bocho Live in Berlin!
Berlin-based street artist El Bocho did a nice mural in one of Berlin-Friedrichshain’s party locations some days ago! It’s a very interesting, dirty styled piece of urban art, showing three nice girls. El Bocho is well-known in Berlin and also in Hamburg for his ongoing paste-up story about the often brutal Little Lucy and her poor kitty as well as for his large-scale paintings of women faces…
Unfortunately he traveled a lot in the last month and did a few exhibitions, so that he apparently had not so much time to be creative on the streets…Hopefully he will use the upcoming good weather for being more active in public space!
